The Face Of Republican Congressional Leadership

Recognize those two guys above? Me either. In fact, they are empty faces. But you should take a look anyway, you should get to know them. Because they are the faces of Republican Congressional and Senate Leadership.

Remember those guys out there yesterday, front and center, cogently and persuasively laying out the case against the Democrats’ Iraq Treason Bill? Remember how Tom Daschle used to so deftly create public sympathy for the opposition, and more importantly, so deftly used to block passage of most of the key bills of the Republicans’ legislative agenda? Aren’t the Republicans so lucky to have Senate and Congressional leaders so good at doing the same? Wasn’t it great seeing the news reports of those Republicans working the halls of Congress so passionately and tirelessly this week, to defeat the big bad Nancy Pelosi? Oh, you didn’t see those reports? Me either.

But wasn’t it great seeing them at the microphones yesterday, Daschle-style, making the case to America about the Democrat-manufactured crisis that is about to crash down on our troops? Oh wait, you didn’t see them on tv doing that? Me either.

I saw the President. I saw the military with him. I saw America’s children with him. I saw a quick soundbite of Boehner on the floor. I didn’t see anything that could be called Republican Congressional Leadership, let alone effective Republican Congressional Leadership.

As a party that has no policies, the Dems had to run as the “We have nothing to offer but at least we’re not Bush” party. And as a result, America is getting what it voted for. The Democrats have been taking a giant piss on us all by doing the only things they can: turn congress into a Democratic Party Infomercial via kangaroo hearings, and pass Iraq Defeat legislation in order to deliver an electoral death knell to the oppostition. They have lost all credibility and legitimacy. All political parties do, when treason is their raison d’etre.

In case you’re not catching my drift here, the Democratic Congress is the easiest of targets for even the most moderately talented of rhetoriticians and political operatives.

So why is the President left to do the job of the Republican Congressional leadership?

Just who are the men behind those two masks anyway? America needs to know. America needs to see them start doing their jobs.
