May 5th, 2007 at 6:00 amI was just watching this yesterday! Great stuff. Scott on a scenery-chewing romp, an early James Earl Jones, and Slim Pickens thinkin’ he’s in a serious drama.
“Gentlemen! You can’t fight in here! This is the War Room!”
I want one of those aircrew survival kits.

May 5th, 2007 at 7:05 amlet’s pray the bad guys don’t have one of them……..
Pat,
Thank you for your efforts to educate a self absorbed world. I am an actor and a conservative who has had some modest success in the picture business over the last 35 years and am inspired by your willingness to step away from the Hollywood groupthink.
I’m going to send you what I can to help with your work.
Regards,
William Lucking
May 5th, 2007 at 8:55 amClassic! Amazing how the option of nuclear annihilation can seem so nostalgic… but, what follows?
Good is evil, and evil is the victim of good. Perfect non-discrimination is the path to nirvana.
May 5th, 2007 at 9:07 amIt’s Saturday Morning at the Movies!
That crazy cowboy is gonna kill us all!
Pondering this flick, which is great satire, I thought about a man who has been so wrongly vilified, that his name is now a symbol of the evils of America
If we had listened to him, maybe we would not have so many enemies within using the media and govenrment trying to install the beautiful teachings of lenin, marx, and mao tse-tung upon us
His name:
SENATOR JOSEPH MCCARTHY -
“McCarthy hadn’t realized he’d be fighting against much of the Washington establishment. President Truman was fearful that exposures would reflect on key Democrat officials, he said, and big media and the academic world were very leftist, a heritage of the Depression and World War II. High government officials also feared investigations of their past appointments and associations with people who turned out to be communists or sympathizers.
That was the reason McCarthy was so demonized, he said.
On the evening of May 1, 1957, while convalescing from a bout of hepatitis at Bethesda Naval Hospital in Maryland, the courageous Senator was quietly administered poisonous carbon tetrachloride by persons unknown. (Eight years earlier the CIA had murdered Secretary of Defense, James Forrestal, in that same hospital. Forrestal had been working on an expose of Soviet espoinage rings in the Pentagon and treason in the Truman Administration when he was suddenly silenced in 1949).”

Good Night and Good Luck and kiss my ass clooney.
May 5th, 2007 at 9:48 amDr. Strangelove! Now that was great…
Overall, using tactical nuclear weapons is a good idea to think about implementing when Iran officially joins the fray (or at least when we finally decide to “officially” tell those bastards that the game is over, no more shadow war!). On second thought this actually is a GREAT idea, with the exception that a Major has to go down with a bomb each time. Unless we promote our favorite speaker of the traitors Nancy sell your Ass down the River P to major in an instant field commission. That would be a great way to kill 2 birds (or Mullahs) with one bomb! Yeah that’s right Nancy; go protect the children…get on the B-52…
Great Flick though…
Add to this the fact that I love Dr. Strangelove not for the anti-war message it is supposed to carry, but the “hell yeah!” imagery that it includes. It is amazing what using the intentional fallacy can do to the discourse of a traditionally lefty film. At least college taught me how to throw those lefty arguments back in their collective face.
Even thought this kind of thinking makes me a film pariah to other film lovers I find no detriment in this. In fact this virtual out casting is something that you may know about first hand, right Mr. Dollard? Don’t get me wrong; I’m not trying to bring up anything uncomfortable, just showing that even on small scales, if you challenge the established lefty-fact, you are to be blacklisted in a film community.
Obviously by my strange rant you can figure out that I do NOT find being labeled a conservative anti-commie, jingoistic, fill in the blank anti-leftie whatever; gun nut a problem to my psyche. It is a determent to them not me, (and it is funny to watch them squirm). And it is nice not to be continuously stuck in a film groupthink, even though others in film and video think you’re crazy.
It is refreshing to see real men break the mold of the “film guy” and approach it with a non-Hollywood attitude…
Keep it up Pat!

May 5th, 2007 at 9:52 amI like how the Ruskis learned of the secret plans by reading the NY Times…
It would be even funnier if today the NY Times were not blurting out classified materials ever two minutes…
I still love the ending though…a great montage of music and nuclear meltdown…
Love it!

Fun Movie. IBM is laying off 100,000 American jobs and sending them to China. Surprised? IBM PC division was, after all, sold off to the Chineese government’s technology institute.

@Chad,
Pat would do anything for “his guys” once he has returned to Iraq. Could you point out to him that these scenes are labeled under “don’t try this at home”? Please?!
Also, keep in mind that Rumsfeld47 is roaming this site in his last hours as a civilian. Don’t make him cry, he’s going to boot-camp remember.

May 5th, 2007 at 10:17 pmThe only problem with these smart bombs they expect you to be right all of the time. They’re always complaining.
May 6th, 2007 at 2:25 amMr. Lucking, it’s great to see you here. As a movie buff, I do recall your work. It’s good to see a growing number of conservative celebs are coming forward. Very refreshing to see celebrities who actually understand just how important it is to get behind our fighting forces in harms way.
