U.S.: Red Mosque Standoff Resolution “Vital” For War On Terror

WASHINGTON: US Deputy Secretary of State John Negroponte said Friday that the resolution of Lal Masjid issue is essential for the war against terrorism.
He said USA is aware of the possible perils that loomed large over President Musharraf’s life.
Commenting on the attack on Gen Musharraf’s plane, Negroponte said it is welcome news that he could not be harmed, hoping that an amicable settlement is being sought for the Lal Masjid standoff.
If there are some other extremists’ hideouts, so it is only Pakistan to decide about those, he added.
