“Dumb Jock Killed in Afghanistan”

Excerpts from a post at Polipundit

The Portland, Ore., branch of the Independent Media Center originally ran the headline “Dumb Jock Killed in Afghanistan” above a story by the Washington Post about Tillman’s death last week in a firefight with militia forces in Afghanistan.

The website was filled with comments affirming the headline, and adding others.

One suggested an alternative headline, ” … or, how about, ‘privileged millionaire, blinded by nationalist mythology, pisses away the good life.’”

Another suggestion: “‘Citizen of empire allows ignorance to cause him to die for imperialism’ or maybe … Capitalist chooses to kill innocents instead of cashing check.”

Commenting on the article’s reference to a “brave American,” a reader replied: “‘brave’???? for going over to Afghanistan completely uninvited and slaughtering brown-skinned people with advanced weaponry?”

Okay. A friend sent me this tid-bit last night. Seems there is now “speculation” Tillman was murdered??

As for Army Times, I believe I’ve heard it IS NOT affilliated with anything “official”.

These are despicable. However, I do have to add that some of these could have easily been from conservatives as well.

Regardless of who entered these they are disgusting.

Shame! Now Pat Tillman’s death is just another one of those conspiracy theories. He could’ve simply been the all-American hero and they could’ve just left it at that, but no. They turned his death into a circus. It’s shameful.

Could they just let him R.I.P already? This is getting on my nerves-someone screwed up, they could get punished-leave it at that.

I wouldn’t put too much faith in the Army Times. They are no longer apolitical. They have in recent years taken a turn to the left. I don’t pay any attention to any of those service “Times Pubs”.

A better view can be had from other high-speed people and from the MOS pubs.

The chaplain in the story misquoted the Spec4. And the autopsy is the doctors opinion. In all cases none of these reporters or experts were in that firefight. And civilians that report on shit they know nothing about….really shouldn’t leave their day jobs.

Second-guessing a combat casualty is a waste of time. Nobody murdered Tillman. I think Tilman made the mistake of standing up and getting into the line of fire. His actions were heroic. His attempt to get his fellow rangers to stop firing in order to save himself and his buddy, were also heroic.

But in my view he made the mistake that they teach you in live-fire excercises not to make…which is to stay in your lane…and do not get in someone else’s line of fire.

And that is from someone who spent a great deal of time in the Infantry. I also worked with Rangers. So I say bullshit to that article.

Yeah, I thought as much. Thanks. I’ve heard this about the Army Times also.

These are far left liberals. Most liberals like myself honor his selflessness and honor to country. Any person who doesn’t believe the fight in Afghanistan is just has no concept of foreign policy. A person who gives up a multi-million dollar lifestyle and joins the military because of what he experienced following 9-11 is a true liberal in my eyes.

Anyone that can answer this question? I just heard for the first time a couple of days ago about the three shot part of the (facts). I forget where I heard this. It has to do with this firing mechanism that fires three rounds, pauses and either continues firing after each pause or you have to keep pulling the trigger. The idea was to assure more rounds were on target because those that have fired automatic weapons know that the weapon has a tendency to raise the longer the trigger is held. Was that just an idea or did they start using that feature. If it was a feature that could explain three shots and the pause gave the shooter that slight pause that gave him the opportunity to stop firing. If it was the standard firing style I’ve known there may have been more shots fired before realizing, “shooting at the wrong person”.

Tillman was a big guy, they’d lead you to believe that two equally big guys held Pat still so that they could shoot him?

The one and only military funeral I went to was for one of the first casualties from The Persian Gulf War. It was also friendly fire. Remember the APC that got accidently hit by, I think, a Warthog? We were drilling that weekend and we went after drill, he lived in Tonawanda, NY. You feel so bad and also so stupid. Obviously we didn’t have anything to do with it, we weren’t even there, you just feel stupid. The mother was a class act.

I thought I heared a while back that Gannett Newspapers owned “The Army Times” (also Navy, Marine, Air Force Times) - nothing whatsoever to do with the military. So, I googled the question. Yep. They’re owned by Gannett, the wonderful MSM pieces of dried pig smegma.

Some of the posts in the readmore were depressing in the extreme. That ANY american could denigrate the life of a US soldier in such a way shows that they aint Liberals or even Left Wing democrats, but traitors to their own country that nurtured them from childhood, gave them every opportunity to be good and patriotic citizens, thenproceed to spit on the memory of a patriot who, for his own reasons joined the military and was killed in battle.
At least we all know where thy hide, and so do the islamists and hey will be the first beheaded when the gand caliphate comes into being due to their week kneed response to the need for patriotism.Bit like Amerika the movie.
Just a thought from an Aussie
