Left Goes Apeshit As Bush Steals Their Vietnam Analogy

According to Newsweek today, America’s pullout from Vietnam was a “success” for the nation. Headline: “Why America’s Pullout From Vietnam Was a Success:
The truth behind Bush’s mangling of Cold War history.”

Michael Hirsh’s article itself is a somewhat controlled apoplectic rant, basically claiming that Islamism holds no sway over much of the world’s population ( hmmm….even just 20% of a billion muslims - spread across the globe, no less - is 200 million….and growing….) as Communism did, and that Al Qaeda and terrorists will gain no tactical or strategic advantage from success in Iraq other than bragging rights on the internet. He even says that Jihad might not even gain more followers from an American defeat, only that “perhaps” they will. He also states that Jihad has no “universalist” designs on the planet. And then comes a moment where he betrays a toxic central conceit of the Left, which is that the only opinions that matter in this world, the only force that matters in this world, is that of “elites” such as himself. He literally assures us that we have nothing to fear from Islamofascism because “the majority of the world’s elites won’t buy it.”

He also claims everythig was sunshine in Vietnam after we left, and conveniently avoids mentioning the millions of people slaughtered in Cambodia. He shrugs off the boat people with a single obligatory phrase.

He also states, “And the truth is, the slow bleed of America’s might and prestige on the streets of Iraq makes for a far more compelling picture of U.S. weakness than any Al Qaeda propaganda could ever do”. But like a good propagandist without a good argument, he conveniently leaves out the obvious fact that an American victory will make the most compelling picture of all.

I could go on, but why bother? It is fun as fuck watching these guys freak out that they’ve lost their analogy trump card. The Newsweek Story has been their main featured story, at the top of their website, all day long. Here’s the article.

Much of the US and British press started shrieking as well. They considered the whole Vietnam talking point their strongest weapon, so to lose it paralyzes them with fear. They are not only hoping that the analogy of a Vietnam-style defeat for America comes true, they have been working very hard for four years to make it happen. The British press, who believe they have succesfully pushed their government into cutting and running, were especially upset, and had reactions posted within seeming minutes of the President’s speech.

From the London Telegraph:

“An imprudent comparison that undermines the American case….It is a desperate move for President Bush to invoke Vietnam as justification for staying longer in Iraq…to the extent that Bush’s rash comparison with Vietnam is justified, it undermines his case…His history lecture is disputable, not least in his elision of Vietnam and Cambodia. However, he is beyond controversy at the banal core of his main point: that Iraq has not yet come right but could in the future…”

The Independent:

“President George Bush invoked the spectre of Vietnam for the first time yesterday as 15 more American soldiers died… amid the chaos, an isolated Mr Bush vowed he would “fight to win”, that the so-called troop “surge” was working and that the lesson from Vietnam was that withdrawal had cost millions of lives.”

From The Guardian:

“It is surely a sign of desperation in the White House that President Bush yesterday cited the US withdrawal from Vietnam…If we’re going to talk about the legacy of Vietnam, we need to remember what happens when a nation fails to take care of its veterans. We cannot abandon another generation of combat vets to untreated mental health problems, substance abuse, unemployment, homelessness, and suicide…on the Vietnam analogy itself, few would quarrel with the assertion that the US defeat was followed by years of upheaval. But it does not follow that the US should necessarily stay in Iraq for years to come.”

Don’t forget to rate the article low.

This is the kind of rant that one gets when one spends too much time as a young person jacking off and smoking dope.

This idiot should have married that CNN bitch Christiane Ahmedwhore. He’s just like her: Unable to to understand or to analyize his own reporting.

The MSM lives in its own collective and expects everyone else to march in lock-step with them.

They fail miserably in their attempts to indoctrinate thinking individuals. Their lies about everything is designed to do just one thing…not expose the truth…but rather to expose the soft underbelly of their own personal biases and lack of a working moral compass.

And this guy Hirsch is a just another mighty MSM troll on a sinking ship of fools.

You gotta love George! Whenever he wants, he goes out a says something that just drives the looney left in the MSM crazy. I think he does it just to screw with them. He is the best.

Anyone who does not understand Iraq must not be able to read a map. Who started this crap in 1978? What country near the Persian Gulf was shooting at our planes and daring us to attack them so we could invade them? Which country is soon to be surrounded by US-friendly countries with a bunch of pissed-off US boots based in them? The Iranians know what’s coming and they are trying hard to avoid it. There is no reason to pull back; we are winning. Doesn’t most of the world’s oil flow through the Persian Gulf? If we redeploy to Afganhistan, doesn’t that abandon the shipping lanes to the nutjobs who hate us? Won’t it make Al Qaeda an oil exporting power?

We need George to go on the full-court press. He can make this an entertaining year of watching the Dems and their MSM pals lose their tiny minds.

We were out of Vietnam by ‘73 and the democrats immediately started to try to reduce funding and by ‘75 were successful. The democrats told the communists to just silently wait over in Laos and Cambodia and reconstitute. The communists took the democrat’s advice and when the democrats were successful they launched their chinese communist financed blitzkreig. The democrats would not spring for a few bucks for beans and bullets. The South ran out of ammunition. We were still in Germany, Japan, S. Korea and the Phillipines. The democrats dismissed the efforts of 58,000 dead GI’s efforts. Their hatred of the success of Nixon in negotiating a peace and leaving a reasonable facsimile of a democracy and a pretty well trained military drove them nuts. They are obsessed with doing an encore today. democrats are still totally self-absorbed hateful little psychoes. Enemy to the front, democrats to your back. It’s all in the historical record. Maybe they think those of us alive then are all dead by now. Any question why they side with the psychoes of the world, today?

What really has the MSM and libs ticked is that President Bush is not letting them run this war like they were able to do with Viet Nam, and lose that one. He is listening to the military commanders, and taking their advice in regards to policy, and strategy, and letting the experts choose the tactics, rather than the touchy feely dems who don’t know squat do so as they did in the 60’s. Just as the MSM was able to hide any and all vicotries in Viet Nam, so are they trying to do so in Iraq. Unlike back then, we have the internet, and people like Pat, Michael Yon, Blackfive, Michelle Malkin and many others that are giving us the true facts, not the liberal editorials portrayed as news.

we keep getting the stories about the print media lsoig readership and revenue, yet they fail to realize or face the reality that the majority of Amercian people are sick of the drivel they have tried to get us to buy into. They are the purveyors of the Kool Aid, not conservatives. as I said in prioor posts, I cancelled my subscriptions years ago to the Washington Post, Newsweek, and the Cleveland Plain Dealer (yeah I’m stuck in Cleveland) and followed those cancellations up with letters to their circulation offices to let them know I had cancelled due to the lack of news, glut of biased editorials hidden as news reports, etc.

If we could get more people to do so, the people like George Soros that have made their millions or billions from feed lie after lie to the American public while while to stifle or change public opinion we might actually get unbiased news.

We all know it will take more fighting, and unfortunately deaths of Americans and our allies to secure Iraq. Iran may be next on the agenda, who knows? The MSM is seizing on the rantings of statesmnet that are so old they would have faced mandatory retirement in corporate America. We should get mandatory testing for Parkinsons and Alzheimers for elected officials. There should be an easier wy to issue recall votes on elected officials when they show their true colors after assuming office, or start acting like national icons after serving for decades. When they spend that long in office, they have no concept of reality, they never spend any amount of time knowing their constituents or of what is happening in American life. All they become concerned with is staying in office, building their wealth and estates, sheilding that from taxes while trying to tax the productive part of American society to death.

When the founding fathers of this great country began this nation over 200 years ago, they envisioned the judiciary as inerpreting the laws that the legislative passed in accordance with the wished of those whom elected them to office. They did not want an oligarchy in this country where the judges began making laws and forcing that on the people, which is happening.

President Bush led us into this war with the majority support of our elected officials. Now those same officials want the judiciary to declare that illegal, and in the process begin to give control of this country to judicial officers that in many cases are appointed to position for life, not elected, and in many cases cannot be removed from office not matter what criminal trespass they commit, short of murder and other capital offenses.

Emails and letters to your local papers, television studios, all elected officals and calls to radio stations to get your voice heard is not hard to do, and can be viewed as part of your duty as an American. If you do not vote, or do anything else to get your opinion heard, you have no room to complain about what happens. Each letter received is viewed by elected officials as the equivalent opinion of at least 500 voting constiuents. No wonder that when the libel retards get their letter campaigns going they are listened to, it isn’t that hard to find a hundred or more illiterates thatdepend on government hand outs to survive to sign form letters, especially if the envelope and stamp are provided, along with a Colt 45 40 ouncer….

These people complaining about the billions supposedly being wasted in Iraq, what have they to say regarding the 11 Trillion plus that has been wasted on the war on poverty? The level of poverty has not diminished one bit since the liberals got their social programs and entitlements going in the 60’s, why do we keep letting them waste so much? Add that to the pork Congress slips in every year, cripes, we need to take back this country in order to show the world and our troops that not only do we support them but that we as Americans are able to clean our house as well, which would go a long way to shutting down the critics around the world.

We have the greatest country in the world, the only way we are going to lose is if the good people stand by and do nothing. Congressmen, and Senators are not military professionals, regardless of their having served in uniform. They voted for this war, that makes it legal despite all their bitching on that point. Let’s keep pressing the good fight here on the home front, show our troops that we have their six here, and let’s start holding those elected a LOT more accountable.

Okay, I’ll climb off my soap box for now.

Yeah, I started posting immediately after seeing the speech that the tide of awareness had begun to turn, and that the actual responsibility of the Cronkgress for Pol Pot etc. was finally coming to the attention of the American public. George should keep hammering this: gutless betrayal costs FAR more than principled persistence and loyalty.

Facts on the ground and a correction to the “narrative” are both stripping away the thick-but-flimsy wrappings of BS that have sheltered the “progressives” from the consequences of their Big Lie distortions. BDS may turn out to be fatal.

Fuck the libs, they don’t own the media or the internet, they are not as powerful as they once were. Thank God!!
