What was that spark that was tracing back?

that looked like burning phosphorus to me..really bright white and intense like that..hard telling though i guess when the bomb disposal unit couldnt identify it.

Kurt, bear with me. I’m not exactly sure what I saw and heard and I looked at it three times. I got the part about something blowing up. What exactly blew up and where the two voices the bomb disposal unit? Women on the bomb disposal unit? The military of today must be like being aboard the Enterprise and I don’t mean the aircraft carrier.

Yes, we do have women on our bomb disposal units. I believe one was actually killed a couple years ago … and unless I’m mis-remembering the story, she was part of a husband/wife team … and her husband held her while she died. I’ll try to do some digging to find the story when I get back onto my own computer … unless someone else beats me to it.

They detonated a really large car bomb JC, you can hear the female say what happened to fire in the hole. and then it just detonates. I’m really not sure what that was that came flying back at them.

To hide an emotional reaction I’ll do an emotionless Spock impersonation, “Fascinating”.

    P.S.

More info re: female military casualties in this war. The article is over a year old, however.

haha “what happened to fire in the ho-oole” BOOM.

That looked like an incendiary device designed to burn through armor and glass. That was a very eclectic discharge. By the way, people in the crowd at the end were Yelling” Alluha Ackbar”

I’ve seen that type of explosion before. It looks like a shell may have been split in half and the explosive residue is just burning kinda like Jumping Jack fireworks spin.

Glad they were not hit with that.

Army Staff Sgt. Kimberly A. Voelz R.I.P.

    Thanks for the links drillanwr.

I try not to present myself as a sexist geezer, but, I still give a second glance to a lady policeman, I mean woman, a lady fireperson, a lady astronaut, a lady bomb disposal technician, a lady fighter pilot. A lot in life is “and now for something completely different”. But, what the hell, if you can do it, do it.

Hello all, and thank you for your kind comments about my wife. She was awesome, and I will always miss her.
let me “shed some light” on the video though, that is a video probably taken by MP’s, as there were multiple people inside the vehicle talking and we “EOD” don’t normally have more than 2 folks per team. also, the smoking things are illumination canisters from the illum rounds that were detonated, they would normally be ejected from an artillery round in flight and light up the night, the bad guys sometimes don’t know ordnance so they will rig an ied with illum instead of high explosives. i have several friends still alive because a multi round chain detonated broad side of the convoy and they were all illum, so instead of taking casualties they dove across the canal and caught those wipes.
    Sincerely,
    SFC Max Voelz
