Bollinger Blasted In Iranian Government News Outlet - Updated
Islamic Republic News Agency is the official Iranian news outlet. It is very widely read in the country, so clearly Mr. Bollinger’s attack was not entirely censored from the Iranian people.
MP Blasts Columbia University President
Member of Parliament (Majlis) Abdolmajid Shoja said on Tuesday that the offensive behavior of Columbia University chancellor towards President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad betrayed the US administration’s weakness in facing Iran.
Shoja also told IRNA that all nations worldwide respect their guests, but he (chancellor of Colombia University) insulted the high-ranking Iranian official (president) in a country which claims to be cradle of democracy, culture and civilization.
They had better raise their critics and viewpoints in form of questions, he said, adding that the US academic could have spoken to Ahmadinejad more politely.
He said that the US tries to wage a propaganda campaign to suffocate Iran’s voice, adding that Iran is the symbol of rightness in the world, therefore, the US does not want its voice heard by other nations.
Nations around the world will support right words if they hear them, he noted.
UPDATE:
(AP) Iranians on Tuesday called the combative introduction of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad by the head of Columbia University “shameful” and said the harsh words only added to their image of the United States as a bully.
In a region where the tradition of hospitality outweighs personal opinions about people, many here thought Columbia University President Lee Bollinger’s aggressive tone—including telling Ahmadinejad that he exhibited the signs of a “petty and cruel dictator”—was over the top.
“The surprising point of the last night meeting is the behavior of the university president,” state-run radio reported, describing Bollinger’s introduction as “full of insult, which was mostly Zionists’ propaganda against Iran.”
The chancellors of seven Iranian universities issued a letter on Tuesday to Bollinger saying his statements were “deeply shameful” and invited him to Iran.
In the letter, they asked him to respond to 10 questions ranging from: “Why did the U.S. support the bloodthirsty dictator Saddam Hussein during the 1980-88 Iraqi-imposed war on Iran?” to “Why has the U.S. military failed to find al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden even with all its advanced equipment?”

Hilarious! Ballesser is getting it from all sides but those that count to your average lib. He can wrap himself up all cozy in his fleece Hello Kitty blankey of academe and MSM love. I am not convinced this wasn’t a homerun back in ol’ Tehran.
September 25th, 2007 at 10:02 am“symbol of rightness”…right on this bitches!
September 25th, 2007 at 10:02 am“…betrayed the US administration’s weakness in facing Iran.”
Predictable. Now, how will Bollinger and Columbia respond? Do they cave, in the name of “manners”, or will they finally mean what they say and stand for something?
September 25th, 2007 at 10:15 am“…betrayed the US administration’s weakness in facing Iran.”
Code for ‘don’t be afraid of the Americans.’
September 25th, 2007 at 10:18 amI don’t like this guy anyway.
September 25th, 2007 at 10:20 amThis is what happens when you cave in on all your principles. He caved in on his original stance to allow Dinner Jacket to speak in an open forum, He caved in when his job and cash to the school were at stake. He is an extremely weak character and can’t stand on any principle. How he’s hated by both sides.
September 25th, 2007 at 10:28 amBollingers “attack” was never meant to be censored…. ANY “attack” was always intended to be used as propaganda. They just lucked out and got Bollinger.
“…hello kitty…”
Bollinger…

September 25th, 2007 at 10:42 amSo out of 400 universities in Iran only 7 had something negative to say about Bollinger? That’s only 1.75%. That’s the best they could do? 1.75%?
I think that speaks volumes about what the other 393 Iranian universities think about the president of Iran.
Hmmmmmmmm, something to think about.
September 25th, 2007 at 11:05 am“I think that speaks volumes about what the other 393 Iranian universities think about the president of Iran.”
What exactly?
Can I assume that because Columbia was the only university to invite the Iranian dickhead that Harvard or Yale hate him?
September 25th, 2007 at 11:11 amBollinger made an ass of himself and just wound up helping Camel boy gain a propaganda coup. Inviting Camel Boy was bad enough, but insulting and INVITED guest was even worse.
Nice going, shit for brains. I hope the suck points you got with the fags was worth it.
September 25th, 2007 at 12:10 pmIt is just pure and simple ranting…First they attack Bollinger for not giving him the “proper introduction”… then second they presume to no why he said what he said (which is a free for all) which sets up their third and favorite viewpoint, the “defensive posture”…Blah, blah freaking talk me to death
September 25th, 2007 at 12:59 pm“The chancellors of seven Iranian universities issued a letter on Tuesday to Bollinger saying his statements were “deeply shameful” and invited him to Iran.”
I bet if he goes, he’ll turn up headless.
September 25th, 2007 at 1:01 pm“Inviting Camel Boy was bad enough, but insulting and INVITED guest was even worse.”
What was he supposed to do, ask him questions in a nice manner? I would have insulted that goatfucker if I had the chance to interview him.
I don’t agree with Columbia’s allowing him to speak there but since they fucked up and did they might always make Ahmadinejad look like the cunt he is.
People are saying it’s good propaganda for Iran. But what the fuck is Iran going to do? Israel could handle them on their own let alone the US. And if it’s true that 1.75% of the Iranian universites said anything negative about Bollinger it seems to me that the rest of the universities are too scared to say anything or don’t give a shit that thier president was insulted.
September 25th, 2007 at 1:52 pmIn a skewed way, Mr. Bollinger did the same thing to Ahmadinejad as the democrats did to Patreus. Let me point out that I am not saying Ahmadinejad is like Patreus. I am just stating that Bollinger tried to point out that Ahmadinejad is a liar and attack his credibility before he was spoke much like Hilary, Moveon.org, and the likes called Patreus a liar before he even gave his report to congress. I don’t know why the right wasn’t applauded for denouncing what the left did to our general much like the students did to Ahmadinejad when he said it is not customary to say such things against an invited guest.
September 25th, 2007 at 3:24 pmWould shaking the little bastard until his teeth break be insulting?
September 25th, 2007 at 3:26 pmReading anything coming out of Iran these days is just creepy. These yahoos obviously believe their own press, which is a surer sign of impending downfall than anything else I know of.
