Falluja, Sept 26, (VOI) - Police forces killed two militants wearing explosive belts in Falluja, while 16 suspected gunmen were arrested in crackdown near the city, a police source said on Wednesday.
“Police forces killed two al-Qaeda fighters in Nazzal neighborhood, central Falluja,” the source told the independent news agency Voices of Iraq (VOI). The source added “the forces raided the house where the two militants were hiding and killed them.” “The militants were found to have been wearing explosive belts,” he noted.
Meanwhile, the same source said that 16 persons, believed to be al-Qaeda fighters, were arrested in a crackdown in Albo Shijil village near Falluja.
“The operation was based on intelligence indicated that the gunmen were launching attacks against police forces and civilians,” the source concluded.
Falluja city is 45 km west of the Iraqi capital Baghdad.

September 27th, 2007 at 3:52 amWhy didn’t the irhabis blow themselves up? Having second thoughts maybe? Dying is a bitch, especially if the ultimate destination isn’t 72 virgins….
Nice job.
September 27th, 2007 at 4:52 amI have a feeling the IP have a real “soft spot” for nailing these murderers since they and their families are on the terrorist hit lists. And the intel that got them has got to be from locals who actually might like keeping the local cops around.
September 27th, 2007 at 8:54 amThis is all starting to look good. Locals telling cops where the bad guys are. The cops go in and bust some heads and arrest anyone who don’t resist.
It looks like we are finally overcoming the damage done by the State Department weanies who dropped the ball after the first phase of this.
September 27th, 2007 at 4:51 pmThat is a great picture to see.
The IP are doing an excellent job and
they are highly motivated!
Looking forward to many more successful
