“Soldiers Who Lead A War And Soldiers Who Destroy Villages Don’t Help”
Mass rally in Berlin urges German pullout from Afghanistan

Berlin, Sept 15, IRNA
Hundreds of people rallied in Berlin’s city center Saturday, demanding the pullout of German troops from Afghanistan ahead of a key parliamentary vote on extending the Afghan military mandate.
Protesters, among them radical leftists, anarchists, union activists and religious groups, carried signs which called for the withdrawal of German soldiers from Afghanistan.
Speaking with IRNA, an organizer of the rally stressed that German troops have “not enabled the peaceful development” of the war-stricken.
“Soldiers who lead a war and soldiers who destroy villages don’t help (to create peace) …, said the spokesperson of ‘Jurists against ABC weapons’, Reiner Braun.
“We believe peace can only be achieved once foreign troops are out of the country and the sorely afflicted country and its people can determine their own future … ,” he added.
Braun pointed out that contrary to claims by the German government, the security situation in Afghanistan has not improved.
“Even the 2005 CIA report says that everything has gotten worse in Afghanistan (since 2003).”
Everything else is “only propaganda” to deceive the German public, Braun added.
The peace activist’s remarks were shared by a leading lawmaker of the opposition The Left (Linke) party, Norman Paech who reaffirmed his fraction’s rejection of renewing Germany’s three mandates in Afghanistan, namely the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), the anti-terror mission Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) and the Tornado fighter jet mandate.
“We are here (at the rally ) to support those who are against extending the mandate,” Paech told IRNA.
“We believe that the military has to leave the (Afghan) state, “he added.
Paech said the presence of German and other western troops in Afghanistan was aimed at boosting “US and NATO dominance in the Middle East”.
Around 170 political groups had called for Saturday’s protest action titled ‘German army out of Afghanistan’.
Some 3,000 soldiers are also presently based in northern Afghanistan as part of the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force.
Germany has faced intense pressure in recent months from its NATO allies, notably the US, Britain and Canada, to widen its military presence into southern Afghanistan where NATO troops are battling a revitalized Taliban insurgency.
The recent spate of kidnapping of German nationals in Afghanistan has also negatively influenced public opinion about the futile western military campaign in the war-ravaged country.
According to the latest opinion polls, slightly more than half of Germans oppose the NATO-led war in Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, German Chancellor Angela Merkel reiterated Saturday in her weekly video message that there was “no alternative” but renewing the Afghan military mandate.
She stressed that not only the well-being of the Afghan people but also Germany’s security was linked to the Afghan military mission.
Merkel added that Afghanistan should not be allowed to fall into the hands of terrorists.
In other related news, the opposition Greens held a special party congress in the northern city of Goettingen in a bid to seek a unified stance on the issue of extending the Afghan military mandates which will come up for vote in the German parliament in October and November.
The Green party which claims to be pacifist, is deeply split on the presence of German soldiers in Afghanistan.
Merkel asks Greens to back Afghan mission
BERLIN, Sept. 15 (UPI) — German Chancellor Angela Merkel is calling on the Green Party to back an extension of the German military presence in Afghanistan.
The Greens are meeting in special session this weekend to review the party’s official stance on the Afghan mission in preparation for debates pending in the Bundestag this fall.
Merkel, a Social Democrat, said in her weekly Internet message that there was no real alternative to supporting the allied effort in Afghanistan, Deutsche Welle reported Saturday. She called the troop presence necessary to help the Afghan population and to bolster Germany’s security against terrorism.

“Hundreds of people”
WOW hundreds of fools can lead a nation to it’s demise!
I love the power of the media to distort reality!

What a bunch of moonbats. I take it the Koran isn’t required reading in Berlin these days? (Sracasm intended)
September 16th, 2007 at 8:11 amThe one comfort I have in all of this is that Islamo-Fascism WILL prevail in the EU, long before it happens here … And, if the MSM in this country bothers to cover its aftermath, people in this country will SEE and HOPEFULLY wake up in time to realize the caliphate that is aimed squarely at us.
We all saw a bit of the Euro-appeasement last week when we saw anti-Islam protesters being arrested for their {peaceful} protest in Belgium (looked for Pat’s link/video of this but didn’t see it in the mix):

Well, seems that quaint little country is set to split in half … Any guess how that would aid the Islamic movement over there?
Is Belgium Splitting Apart?

So, yuck it up, Germany and you EU-types … You ARE first on their list.
September 16th, 2007 at 8:29 amdrillanwr, when that occurs Ted Kennedy will be US ambassador to the EU and he’ll be able to paraphrase his father when he was US ambassador to England, “the US can do business with an islamofacist EU”.
September 16th, 2007 at 9:54 amSomething happened when I typed this a minute ago. So if it appears twice it’s because I’m not sure if it was lost the first time.

September 16th, 2007 at 9:58 amThis is nuts. These people are destroying any chance that their society will survive much longer. Hope they can get a good price on burquas at the local kiosk.

Helloooo??? Is anybody home?? The Taliban aren’t going to let that happen if NATO pulls out, you utter moron!
September 16th, 2007 at 10:36 amThe Germans, for all of their splendid technology, apparently have always had a huge void in their ability to perceive reality.
I wonder how long these appeasers of Germany believe that this influx of Islam will simply stand by on the sidelines and passively live their own life without real interference? That certainly hasn’t been the history of the Muslims.
Much of Europe has become a ship of fools, circling around the bay while the ship slowly sinks. And because of the blatant anti-Americanism and assistance to the enemy I’ve witnessed the last six years from France, Spain, Belgium, and Germany, I’m going to have a real hard time working up much sympathy when they come looking for my help.
September 16th, 2007 at 10:43 amI guess old Weiner Braun thinks it takes passing out flowers and singing kumbyah to win a war.
And we wonder why Europe is disintegrating?
September 16th, 2007 at 10:45 amThe US ambassador to the islamic EU will be Kennedy and he will be able to paraphrase his father when he was US ambassador to England, “the US can do business with an islamic-EU”.
September 16th, 2007 at 10:51 amEurope has gone crazy..lost their moral compass and their balls for the most part. The feel-good generation is at hand and apparently winning a war and saving our civilization isnt their idea of something worthwhile..They will regret this one day and I wont feel good saying I told you so
September 16th, 2007 at 2:21 pmdid you find any french on that one ?
September 16th, 2007 at 2:35 pmYeah, I can just see/hear the antiwar protesters:
“Pull our troops out of Iraq and A-stan and send them to help our socialist brothers who are dying in Europe!”
September 16th, 2007 at 5:24 pmGermans moonbats are much like the rest of the EU moonbats and our moonbats in that they have never read the Islamic playbook Das Koran. To wit:
“..fight those of the unbelievers who are near to you and let them find in you hardness” (Surah 9:123)
“..fight those who do not believe in Allah” (Surah 9:29)
“..and fight them until there is no more persecution and religion should be only for Allah” (Surah 8:39)
“..fight them; Allah will punish them by your hands and bring them to disgrace” (Surah 9:14)
“..Christians say: The Messiah is the son of Allah; these are the words of their mouths; they imitate the saying of those who disbelieved before; may Allah destroy them” (Surah 9:30)
“I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them” (Surah 8:12)
So, they think that by leaving the GWOT, something will change? Like what for instance? The jihad will go on.
They(jihadis) will fight (quital) until there is no religion but Islam and every person is converted or reduced to humiliation in Dhimnitude.
Dhimnitude - “This denial of equality of rights and dignity remains part of the Sharia, and, as such, is part of the law that global jihadists are laboring to impose everywhere, ultimately on the entire human race.”
(See also Sura 9:29)
These idiots need to get their heads out of their asses.
September 16th, 2007 at 7:24 pmE.g. of sneak editorializing in “news” reportage:
“The recent spate of kidnapping of German nationals in Afghanistan has also negatively influenced public opinion about the futile western military campaign in the war-ravaged country.”
In bold, no less.
September 16th, 2007 at 10:08 pmI’ll be a bit succinct, ‘Fuck Europe’.
