Anbar, Feb8, (VOI)- Anbar’s provincial council on Friday announced it filed a lawsuit against key anti-al-Qaeda leader in the province.

Speaking at a press conference, Abdul Salam al-Ani, chief of Anbar’s provincial council, said “Anbar’s local council lodged a lawsuit in the Anbar criminal court in Ramadi against Hameed al-Hayes, chief of Anbar’s salvation council” also known as The Anbar Awakening.

“The Anbar’s council doesn’t accept accusations and false statements made by the chief of Anbar’s salvation council against the council and the Islamic party,” al-Ani explained.

Al-Hayes threatened to put up arms against the Islamic party, led by the vice president Tareq al-Hashemi, spoke, for wielding hegemony over Anbar’s local posts and facilitating the entrance of Al-Qaeda network into the Sunni Anbar province.

“The Islamic party has only nine of the province’s seats” al-Ani pointed out, “the Awakening council has 13, though they are unelected members, in an attempt to appreciate the efforts exerted by the awakening tribal figures”.

Al-Hayes also called for canceling the local electoral commission in Ramadi for being fully controlled by the Islamic party.
Yet, Al-Ani noted “Anbar’s local council has zero effect over the province’s electoral commission”.

The Islamic party is a major Sunni party and one of the components composing the Iraqi Accordance Front(IAF) list, the third parliamentarian block, that hold 44 out of the parliament’s 275 seats.
