Arizona Legislature Deciding On Concealed Carry For Kindergarten Through College
A committee of the Arizona Legislature is weighing arguments made today over a proposal to let people with permits to carry concealed weapons bring guns to K-12 schools, community colleges and universities.
The Senate’s Judiciary Committee listened to more than two hours of testimony about the proposal, but didn’t take a vote.
The testimony came four days after a gunman opened fire during a lecture at Northern Illinois University, killing five young people before turning a gun on himself.
Supporters say the permit-holders should be allowed to carry guns at schools so they can defend themselves and others if a gunman starts shooting people and police haven’t yet arrived at the scene.
Opponents say police officers urgently responding to a school shooting might have difficulty distinguishing innocent permit-holders from the gunman.

I would say that the crazy person screaming or dressed like Neo would be your guy…
However the beauty of this would be, THE CRAZY GUY WILL ALREADY BE DEAD! What a novel thought.
February 18th, 2008 at 9:39 pmIf they allow concealed gun permits they need regulations about storage of the gun so the little kiddies dont get near the guns.
February 18th, 2008 at 11:08 pmThey should allow it. They would not need to store the gun anywhere unattended. It should be on their person at all times. A gun stored somewhere would delay any decent response time, especially in this situation.
The dirtbags that slaughter innocent people en’ mass need to know that this country is more than just a little bit sick of their bullshit. Whatever their damn problems are they need to go kill themselves first before they think they are going to take a stroll on a kill spree with no immediate opposition.
My coworker was friends with one of the slaughtered in this incident. This is happening in way too many schools and needs to be handled in the same quick and deadly way for the shooters. There will only be more in the future.
Guns are not the enemy, it is the people who do have them that should not that are. Unfortunatley, there is no way to keep weapons out of their hands when they are this determined. We do need to be just as determined and ready to use deadly force as they are with no delay time.
February 19th, 2008 at 4:55 amI agree that designated teachers/school admins should be required to carry concealed weapons on school property. It is only a matter of time before terrorist plan another mass hostage siege targeting a public school in the US, as they have done in Beslan and Ma’alot. They even have a name designated for such an attack, the “perfect day”. read more about this planning by Googling Glenn Beck “a Perfect Day”

It’s about damn time! The one thing all these mass shootings have in common is they take place in “gun-free zones”.
Duh?
February 19th, 2008 at 6:33 amI think it should be mandatory for ALL school staff (even the janitor) to carry a
holstered pistol. In plain site.
This will have two benefits:
1) The students will be much safer from the next “tragic figure” that goes off his meds.
2) It’ll weed out most of the liberal-disease spreading teachers,
thus keeping the minds and souls of the students safer as well.
For the safety of all children,

jam that is a very insightful observation. I mean when was the last time, outside of the movie Terminator, that you saw a police station shot up? I wonder if that is why some on this site continue to call “Gun Free-zones” what they really are “Target Rich Environments”.

Watch out for that 3 year-old; he is packing.
