Geez, it’s not like there is a war on, or economic issues to deal with, or illegal aliens sneaking across the border minute by minute…Nooooo, we gotta go after this MLB pitcher, that’s good TV!

idiots on The Hill…

WASHINGTON — Congress asked the Justice Department on Wednesday to investigate whether Roger Clemens made false statements to a House committee.

The chairman and ranking Republican on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee said they sent a letter to Justice.

“We believe that his testimony in a sworn deposition on Feb. 5, 2008, and at a hearing on Feb. 13, 2008, that he never used anabolic steroids or human growth hormone, warrants further investigation,” committee chairman Henry Waxman and ranking Republican Tom Davis wrote. “That testimony is directly contradicted by the sworn testimony of Brian McNamee, who testified that he personally injected Mr. Clemens with anabolic steroids and human growth hormone.

“Mr. Clemens’s testimony is also contradicted by the sworn deposition testimony and affidavit submitted to the committee by Andrew Pettitte, a former teammate of Mr. Clemens, whose testimony and affidavit reported that Mr. Clemens had admitted to him in 1999 or 2000 that he had taken human growth hormone.”

If congress worked half as hard on real issues, as they have on the Roger Clemens steroids, they might just be able to bring their approval rates up a few points.

What a monumental waste of taxpayers money. :gun:

Smoke screen for the fact that Feingold’s anti-Iraq Victory bills are not going to even get passed by the Senate, let alone be vetoed. They’re trying to hide that fact that they are turning their collective asses toward the anti-war left because they have come to acknowledge the fact that we are winning and they would look like the traitors they are if they actually passed the bills.

perjury is a real issue, its the law. maybe MLB should get off its dead ass and do something, so the government doesn’t have to.

Perjury is illegal, but it was never intended for Congress to investigate petty matters as such. It is a complete waste of time and taxpayer dollars…..anyone with half a brain knew 20 years ago that steriods were widely used in professional sports…….Guys that weigh 300 weren’t meant to run 4.2 second forties.

Clemons wants to fuck up his long term health for a BIG payday…..go for it.

‘The Law’….it is a living being..RIGHT. ‘The Law’ generally means that what is morally right is trumped by something in a case law book that some higher being judged to be in one way or another and is subject to change without notice.

Common sense tells me that the Congressman should be on trial for wasting my tax dollars.
