Dutch Catholics Re-Name Lent “Christian Ramadan”

…and the Islamization of Europe continues, mostly disguised as “Political Correctness”…
Dutch Catholics have re-branded the Lent fast as the “Christian Ramadan” in an attempt to appeal to young people who are more likely to know about Islam than Christianity.
The Catholic charity Vastenaktie, which collects for the Third World across the Netherlands during the Lent period, is concerned that the Christian festival has become less important for the Dutch over the last generation.
“The image of the Catholic Lent must be polished. The fact that we use a Muslim term is related to the fact that Ramadan is a better-known concept among young people than Lent,” said Vastenaktie Director, Martin Van der Kuil.
“The agreements are more striking than the differences. Both for Muslims and Catholic faithful the values of frugality and spirituality play a central role in this tradition,” said Mr Van der Kuil.

Christian Ramadan huh. well i think its blasphemy to mix my religion with this 7th century moon god worship. Im a christian not a member of their death cult and these Dutch “Catholics” can shove it.
Disclaimer: not speaking of all Catholics. just these Dutch assholes
February 12th, 2008 at 10:33 amWay to go guys, why not just skip to the part where you drop to your knees and put your head on the chopping block.
Those who do not learn from the past are doomed to repeat it. First you ignored the Nazis, and had to be liberated, and now you have coddled the enemy within your own borders.
February 12th, 2008 at 10:34 amWhat a bunch of idiots.
February 12th, 2008 at 11:30 amNo … it doesn’t need “polished”. Either you know about it and follow it, or you don’t. BTW, that means you have “THE CHOICE” … No “convert or die” there …
Yeah? … So the hell what? Whose fault it THAT?
Huh? … The agreement between the two??? There is NO agreement … There MIGHT be [some] similarities in customs/practices, but to tag it as an “agreement” between the two COMPLETELY different religions is an asinine leap! Fasting (and perhaps prayer, similarities, not any sort of agreement … That’s it, nothing more. One religion commemorates the love, forgiveness, suffering and sacrifice of a selfless Man who gave His life for our sins … to save us for Paradise by simply loving one another as He loved us.
The other commemorates a fake religion spun by a megalomaniac who sought to turn all his followers into hate-filled suicidal/homicidal megalomaniacs in order to worship death and destruction by promising them this twisted concept of attaining Paradise.
I’m NOT the staunch Catholic I was taught/brought-up to be … Hell, I can’t even be considered a moderate Catholic … but damn if I’ll allow someone who is letting their own country/culture slip away in someone else’s slime re-define my religion to equate it to one completely formed out of insanity and bullshit.
So … why the hell NOT re-name Ramadan “Muslim Lent”????!!?????
Jeanet, I don’t give you enough credit for keeping your sanity over there.
February 12th, 2008 at 12:07 pm“Now, why are young people in the Netherlands more likely to know about Islam than Christianity? Think about that for a moment. And then ponder also the fact that Christians who lived under Islamic rule for century after century never, ever succumbed to any temptation to recast their own traditions as pale imitations of Islamic ones. Lent was always and only Lent. Great Lent. The Great Fast. Never “Christian Ramadan.”
Ramadan is not a word for “fast.” It is a month on the Islamic calendar, which Christians do not use, during which Muslims abstain from food and drink during daylight hours — a style of fasting unknown to all Christian traditions in any case. Byzantine Christians, both Orthodox and Catholic, traditionally — and today, among the observant — abstain during the Great Fast from meat and dairy products, fish with backbones, olive oil, and alcohol, day and night, from the beginning of Lent after Forgiveness Vespers on Cheese Fare Sunday until Pascha, Easter, the Resurrection of Christ. And they do not eat at all until noon, or in some cases sundown. ”
Another attempt at “tolerance”(cough, cough) perhaps?
Maybe another try at equating all religions as being equal?
And are we talking about righting Christians, mainstream christians or just Christians in general?
Not much in the way of intellect going on here in the Netherlands is there?
How does one equate a religion that tolerates beheadings, murder, rape and child molestation, and xenophobia, vs one that says any and all of the above is wrong?
How is the Lent fast which is the solemn rememberance of the 40 days leading up to Christ’s passion the same as moon-god worship fasting?
Muslims will tell you this:
“Muslims fast as an act of faith and worship towards Allah, seeking to suppress their desires and increase their spiritual piety. Fasting together as a worldwide community—Ummah—affirms the brotherhood and equality of man before Allah.”
And yet Muslims deny the deity of Christ. In Christian doxology anyone who does this is anti-Christ.
So, just how does the worship or traditional things of a pro-Christ movement somehow sudenly become simiilar or equal to its antithesis?
Learn to grow beards and buy your women burquas Dutch people, your leaders have sold your, and their souls for a bowl of pottage.
February 12th, 2008 at 12:32 pmRe-branded the Lent fast as the “Christian Ramadan”.
Mmmmmm … starting a debate … publicity seeking … modernizing (by 7 centuries) …
….. nah! It’s just crazy.

Just joking … perhaps my second attempt will be clearer …
Mmmmmm … starting a debate? … publicity seeking? … modernizing (by 7 centuries)? …
….. nah! This idea is just crazy.

And Muhammad started Islam in the 7th century whereas Christianity started in … well … the year 0AD!

Perhaps just a little off there, LC.
Jesus led/taught his followers in the Jewish faith until His death … and the resulting split in the Jewish faith/Temple. “Christianity”, per say, didn’t really [form] until after that.
However, you might be surprised that some people, when asked what religion Jesus was, will say “Christian”, ignorantly forgetting He was a Jew.
Mohammed (the 7th-century founder of Islam), on the other hand, was no more than a primitive David Koresh or Jim Jones.
February 12th, 2008 at 1:10 pmOH-MY-GOD!!! In order to appeal to youth who may know more about Islam than Christianity that about sums it up, doesn’t it? The West must get more reactionary, lest it collapse.
February 12th, 2008 at 1:13 pmI don’t even know what to say … I cross myself at the idea that a term used by people who think they can BUY their way into paradise by performing tasks to get the appeasement of their moon-god in comparison to the high liturgical season of the beautiful Catholic Church, entrenched in Tradition …
My stomach churns at the thought that Lent, which is in observance of Christ’s 40 days of prayer (the quadragesima) … what we use today as a preparation to celebrate Christ’s rising… is being described in terms to satisfy the Sarrasins.
They’re two totally different things. The Muslims fast and let the whole world know. This isn’t true for Christians!
Matt 6:16-18:
16″Whenever you fast, do not put on a gloomy face as the hypocrites do, for they neglect their appearance so that they will be noticed by men when they are fasting Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.
17″But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face
18so that your fasting will not be noticed by men, but by your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you. **
**and don’t give into heathens.
I hope Pope Benedict gives the Dutch Archbishop the smack-down.. He is the German Shepherd, after all.
February 12th, 2008 at 1:54 pm@drillanwr:
No probs. I can do comparative religious stuff standing on my head. This is too easy.

Sorry fooks, doing the best I can.
February 12th, 2008 at 1:56 pmAs Americans, we all should have learned to say “Europe fucking sucks, and its inhabitants are retarded” long ago.

‘As Americans, we all should have learned to say “Europe fucking sucks, and its inhabitants are retarded” long ago.’
What? All of us? One Dutchman says something which he thinks is clever but turns out to be bone-headedly stupid and therefore we all are retarded? So in America you don’t have anybody that says stupid stuff from time to time?
Now if the Catholic church in Holland had actually re-branded the Lent fast as the “Christian Ramadan” that would be something. But this is one guy, the leader of a Catholic charity that is giving his crazy opinion. It doesn’t mean that it’s actually going to happen.
February 13th, 2008 at 2:54 amPlease take note, the British press report this stuff in the same frame of mind as Bashman when he posts them here. i.e. “Look at what the crazy folk are doing now”!
