Internal Memo: CNN Tells Reporters To Sanitize Castro’s Resignation - With Vid

Okay, follow the bouncing ball on this one…Lynn Davidson at Newsbusters posts an email which is supposedly from Allison Flexner, who’s exact position at CNN is not known, but at one time was in charge of Cuban Events at CNN:
From: Flexner, Allison

Subject: Castro guidance
Some points on Castro – for adding to our anchor reads/reporting:
* Please say in our reporting that Castro stepped down in a letter he wrote to Granma (the communist party daily), as opposed to in a letter attributed to Fidel Castro. We have no reason to doubt he wrote his resignation letter, he has penned numerous articles over the past year and a half.
* Please note Fidel did bring social reforms to Cuba – namely free education and universal health care, and racial integration. in addition to being criticized for oppressing human rights and freedom of speech.
* Also the Cuban government blames a lot of Cuba’s economic problems on the US embargo, and while that has caused some difficulties, (far less so than the collapse of the Soviet Union) the bulk of Cuba’s economic problems are due to Cuba’s failed economic polices. Some analysts would say the US embargo was a benefit to Castro politically – something to blame problems on, by what the Cubans call “the imperialist,” meddling in their affairs.
* While despised by some, he is seen as a revolutionary hero, especially with leftist in Latin America, for standing up to the United States.
Any questions, please call the international desk.

THEN….Christianne “Da Anti-American Fukn Bitch From Peoria” Ammanpour goes on and says this:
And then Matthew Balan at Newsbusters reported this:
Amanpour’s talking up of Castro’s “progress” followed the second point in Flexner’s memo. “Please note Fidel did bring social reforms to Cuba – namely free education and universal health care, and racial integration, in addition to being criticized for oppressing human rights and freedom of speech.”
The only other occasion on February 19 that someone on CNN used language from Flexner’s memo was during the 1 pm Eastern hour of CNN’s “Newsroom.” CNN International’s Isha Sesay commented on the sparse coverage of Castro’s resignation on Latin American television. “And the interesting thing to point out to our viewers is, despite the fact that Fidel Castro is seen by many in Latin America as a hero, these networks are largely going the course of business as usual. This story is hardly dominating from what we’ve seen. We’re not seeing wall-to-wall coverage of this story.” This lines-up with the last point in the memo - “while despised by some, he is seen as a revolutionary hero, especially with leftist in Latin America, for standing up to the United States.”

Be respectful of others and their opinions. Inflammatory remarks and inane leftist drivel will be deleted. It ain’t about free speech, remember you’re in a private domain. My website, my prerogative.
If you can't handle using your real email address, don't bother posting a comment.
Yeah, too bad these folks weren’t around after Hitler offed himself … What glorious news media eulogies the poor, misunderstood guy could’ve had.
Breaks my heart, it do …
As for Allison Flexner, CNN … NIIIICE Castro “talking points” there, babe! They come directly from Ted Turner?
