Haji The Ripper: Jihadi Serial Killer Targeted Hong Kong Prostitutes
HONG KONG: Hong Kong police charged a 24-year-old Muslim Pakistani national on Wednesday with the murders of three prostitutes, in a case that has terrorised sex workers of the country.
He was charged with murdering the three women between March 15 and 17 in Yuen Long and Tai Po.
Four sex workers have been killed since Saturday, with three of the women believed to have been strangulated. All four operated out of their own flats.
While there are no official statistics on the size of Hong Kong’s sex industry, experts say there are at least 100,000 women working at any given time, most of them from China’s impoverished inland provinces.
The man was arrested at a ferry terminal early on Tuesday morning with the help of police in neighbouring Macau. He is under police custody and will appear in court again next Tuesday.
