PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island (Reuters) – Presidential candidate Barack Obama accused rival Democrat Hillary Clinton of using the politics of fear on Saturday after her campaign released an ad suggesting that Obama lacked enough security experience to keep America safe.

“There are those who are telling you not to believe. There are those who are trying to feed your fear and your cynicism and your doubts,” the first-term Illinois senator told supporters in Providence, Rhode Island.

Obama made the case against Hillary in Rhode Island, a litany that contrasts his “real change” with her stances.

Real change isn’t voting for George Bush’s war in Iraq and then telling the American people it was actually a vote for more diplomacy when you start running for President. The title of the bill was “A Resolution to Authorize the Use of United States Armed Forces Against Iraq.” What else were you voting for?

Clinton said, a bit more directly than she has in the past, that Obama’s “entire campaign is based on one speech.”

She also defended her security ad, saying: “If you can’t have that debate with me, how can you have it with John McCain?”
