Libya Blocks UN Resolution Condemning Jerusalem Attack

NEW YORK, MARCH 7 - The UN Security Council did not reach an agreement on the resolution which condemns the attack in West Jerusalem.
Libya opposed the adoption of the text which needed a unanimous vote to be approved.
“There was no agreement because the Libyan delegation did not want to condemn the attack without a reference to the events in Gaza”, the U.S. Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad said, explaining that a similar text would have been unacceptable for the USA.
His Russian colleague Vitaly Churkin, who is the rotating president of the Council, confirmed that the Council did not reach an agreement and deplored the situation, stating that the attack in Jerusalem “deserved to be dealt with separately”.
