I think it’s quite funny that Hussein got caught in a modern-day media bust. He had no idea he was being recorded, and thought he could say whatever he wanted. Personally, I think he simultaneously revealed his true feelings about “dumb-ass flyover State Americans”, and was pandering to a roomful of elitist San Francisco liberals.
He can tapdance all he wants about “I was really talking about frustration” and ” poor choice of words”, but he said, very clearly, what he said: Americans cling to God, guns and racism, because somebody ( read: George Bush ) has made them poor. Which implies that a reasonable person is not very interested in God or guns, and that small town white America is a bastion of racism. Over and out.

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) – An Israeli aircraft hit a vehicle in a missile strike in northern Gaza late Monday, killing a person getting out of the car, witnesses and health officials said.
The witnesses said the man was apparently the target of the Israeli strike. He was identified as Ibrahim Abu Olba, 42, from the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine. Dr. Moaiya Hassanain of the Palestinian Health Ministry said he died of his wounds in a Gaza hospital. Three bystanders were also hurt, he said.

From ABC: Sen. Barack Obama quickly corrected a slipup about his name Monday at the Associated Press’ annual luncheon in Washington, DC.
Dean Singleton, board chair of the Associated Press and a longtime newspaper executive, asked Obama about the possibility of shifting troops into Afghanistan to fight against the al Qaeda leader.
“Can you imagine shifting a substantial number of Afghanistan — a substantial number to Afghanistan where the Taliban has been gaining strength and Obama Bin Laden is still at large?” Singleton asked
Obama, clearly a bit agitated, quickly interrupted him, “I think that was Osama bin Laden,†the Democratic candidate said, and then took a big gulp of water from the glass next to the podium.
Singleton quickly apologized.
“If I did that I’m so sorry,” he said.
“No, no, no, this is part of the -– part of the exercises that I’ve been going though over the last fifteen months,†Obama said, “Which is why it’s pretty impressive that I’m standing here.â€Â

I just almost threw a penny away. I stopped myself, thinking, nah, I should keep all money I have as it has value, plus it just felt like some not good thing in the bigger picture to not throw money away. I wonder how much money gets thrown away and if it has any real impact on anything.

E-Mail From McCain Campaign today:
“If Barack Obama is the Democrat nominee in the general election, the American people will have a clear choice between two different visions – Senator Obama’s liberal, elitist philosophy and John McCain’s faith in the small town values that continue to make America great. John McCain will not forget them or write them off. Neither should Barack Obama.
We are up against a large fundraising hurdle if Barack Obama is the nominee and we need your help now. Even before the general election begins, the differences are clear, we must do everything we can to make sure these beliefs don’t make it into the White House.”

Here’s a man of great integrity. The man who Hussein had described as his “spirtual adviser” until he became a campaign buzz-kill, delivered his attack on Fox News at a funeral. Classless, self-obsessed.

Sorry for the slow start today, I was caught up in other business that had to be attended to from yesterday late afternoon on, until 10 AM this morning. Then my goddamn computer broke so I was out for about another 3 hours. But we got it together, and traffic eventually skyrocketed up to a very good day. Will be on it early and aggressive tomorrow, so look forward to a cutting-edge, fast paced, guns blazing news and commentary day tomorrow. Ahead of the curve, back to normal, and if you pay close attention to this site, you will slowly realize that an important thing we try to do here is not just put up cool posts, but ( in addition to many other things ) we try to get the stories that indicate important trends that will result and significant long-term impact on us all. If you see going up, take not, because more often than not, it’s about pointing out long-term trends, without beating you over the head with commentary and pointing it all out. I try to walk a fine line with the “blogging/opineering stuff”. Frankly, I find a lot of sites forcing opinions down your throats that 1. just restate the obvious from the story itself, and 2. try to tell how to think about what you’ve just read, almost demanding that you not think for yourselves and just see it the blogger’s way. Often that’s why you’ll see stories go up from me, sans “commentary”.
Most of us bloggers ain’t geniuses, and we don’t need to be telling y’all what to think. All that just gets a little gay.
