    Interesting,my father was on one of those warships that were doing the early shore bombardment.(CA-25) A heavy Cruiser with 8 inch guns,ran low on ammo due to some previous action and left before the actual invasion started to re-supply. The Pacific was too dangerous at that time to be low on ammunition in case of unexpected encounters with the enemy.
    We’re facing a similar fanatical enemy now from a different ideology…
