BATAVIA, Ohio (AP) - The remains of an Ohio soldier missing nearly four years since he was captured in Iraq have returned to his home state.

Members of Sgt. Matt Maupin’s unit say they met privately with his family and presented them with the 20-year-old soldier’s Purple Heart and other decorations.

The 70 members of the Illinois-based 724th Transportation Company of the U.S. Army Reserve were also among hundreds to file past the flag- shrouded casket during a memorial service in suburban Cincinnati.

A tip from an Iraqi helped the military find Maupin’s remains last month about 12 miles from where his fuel convoy was attacked by insurgents near Baghdad.

Another fine young warrior is laid to rest. It is such an honor to him and his family that a road will be named after their son.

No greater honor, no greater sacrifice.

Prayers for the family and friends.

“Have you news of my boy Jack?”

    Not this tide.
“When d’you think that he’ll come back?”
Not with this wind blowing, and this tide.
“Has any one else had word of him?”
    Not this tide.
For what is sunk will hardly swim,
Not with this wind blowing, and this tide.

“Oh, dear, what comfort can I find?”
    None this tide,
    Nor any tide,
Except he did not shame his kind—
Not even with that wind blowing, and that tide.

Then hold your head up all the more,
    This tide,
    And every tide;
Because he was the son you bore,
And gave to that wind blowing and that tide!

“Is Rome worth one good man’s life?

    We believed it once.

    Make us believe it again.

He was a soldier of Rome.

    Honor him. …

Who will help me carry him … ”

We stand together and never alone,
through our trails and triumphs we have faith that you will bring us home,
    walk beside us into battle,
give us the strength to do that which others cannot.
Be with us today just as you were yesterday,
give us strength and the will to fight.
Dear Lord watch over us tonight.
