Thirty punks appearing out of nowhere, surrounded right away, no way out. Poor bastard didn't have a chance. Once someones behind you while you're dealing with someone else, you're fucked. If you can't get away, try to grab one of them and put your back against something. Having a weapon helps, even if it's just a roll of quarters. Sometimes they'll back off if they're afraid of what you'll do to their buddy, but all to often they don't give a shit and will go through him to get to you. One thing I've done that's worked (some of the time) when caught in the open is to grab a guy, preferably the instigator, by the throat and balls (and crush both), drop to the ground and pull him on top of me. The last time I tried it, I still got knocked out and had the shit kicked outta me, but the little bastard who started it has stayed the fuck away from me ever since. He sure as hell knew he was in a fight, even if I didn't so much as land a punch on any of the others. I’ve been stomped by mobs, but never that bad.
