Let the unraveling begin…

Damascus & Tehran - The Syrian and Iranian foreign ministers issued a statement insisting on agreement among Lebanon’s bickering politicians without foreign interference, as the only way out of the country’s never ending political crisis.

The thinly veiled statement was made by the political, financial and military lifeline of Hezbollah, widely believed to maintain total control over Lebanon’s opposition.

“The solution in Lebanon must be internal and comprehensive and with the agreement of all political sides to come out of the current situation,” Iran’s World satellite TV network, which broadcasts in Arabic, quoted Walid Muallem and Manouchehr Mottaki as saying Wednesday.

The station said Mottaki stressed that “foreign interferences were among the factors preventing a solution to the presidential crisis in Lebanon.”

Muallem traveled to Tehran to meet Mottaki after participating in Kuwait at a conference on Iraq.

Syria’s state-run news agency, SANA, said Muallem and Mottaki had common stances on regional issues including Iraq, Lebanon and the Palestinian territories.
