From Voices Of Iraq, The AP ( unaffiliated, I’m using that as a comparative description ) Of Iraq:

Baghdad, Apr 18, (VOI)- Leader of the Sadrist bloc in the parliament Nasser al-Rubaei said on Friday that Sadr City still under siege, describing condition in the city as “tragic”.

“The government’s decision to lift the siege on Sadr City has not been so far implemented and the city still under siege,” al-Rubaei told Aswat al-Iraq – Voices of Iraq.

Sadrists bloc has 30 seats out of the 275-seat parliament.

Sadr City and a number of southern provinces, mainly Basra, Iraq’s second largest city and oil hub, 590 km south of the Iraqi capital Baghdad, had witnessed immense security unrest a few hours after Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki announced a plan to impose order in the province.
Fierce battles occurred between security forces and armed groups believed to belong to Shiite leader Muqtada al-Sadr’s Mahdi Army militias.
