Campbell County Guard Unit Back From Iraq
JACKSBORO, Tenn. - Members of three Tennessee National Guard units are back in the United States from Iraq.
About 300 soldiers of the from Jacksboro, Tullahoma and Brownsville left a year ago for duty in Iraq. They returned to Fort Bragg, N.C., this week.
Plans call for the soldiers to come home next week.
The units spent most of the past year hauling equipment through Iraq. They covered more than 1.6 million miles, according to the National Guard - all without a single casualty.
“These men and women did a heck of a fine job under extremely dangerous conditions,” said Capt. Hud Moore, commander of the 1175th. “I’m very proud of each and every one of them and thankful that we all returned home safely. I know the prayers of a lot of people were with us the whole time, and we’ll always be grateful for that.”
