It’s an olde but goodie. Funny…but dangerous…Hey but if I was 18 and in the same place as these guys…I’d be doing the same thing.
May 7th, 2008 at 5:51 pmSome day I’ll have to tell you about my experience with home made explosives. I think I was just 18 and two buddies and I almost lost our lives

May 7th, 2008 at 6:25 pm@blastdad:
I used to make my own firecrackers after they were outl;awed in my home state when I was a kid. Naturally I progressed to bigger and better explosives in the Army.
Nothing like pulling the lanyard on a 200lb artillery shell or dropping 60mm or 81mm mortar rounds…not to mention hand grenades .203 rounds, and blocks of TNT.
OMG did we have fun. Can I get a Tim Allen grunt?
Like to hear the story sometime. A beer to ya…
May 7th, 2008 at 8:26 pmno ticky, no washy

May 7th, 2008 at 9:03 pmMy experience with grenades:
I was 14 years old and responded to an ad in The Shotgun News. My dad was Vermont state champion trapshooter who let me reload his shells, so I had plenty of Hercules Red-Dot shotgun powder on hand. I ordered an empty casing for an M2 pineapple and when it arrived, promptly loaded it with Red-Dot and inserted a model rocket fuse, burying it in Mom’s tomato garden and running away rather quickly.
BOOM!
Big hole in the garden, no more tomatoes and our next-door neighbor emerged from his house screaming in French.
Sometimes my stupidity is rivaled only by my ability to hide in the woods for days at a time.
May 8th, 2008 at 4:39 amThat sounds like some stupid shit I did as well. I started a little earlier thought and I progress to making my own rocket fuel. Thought I better test it out and lit some in my room and I couldn’t put it out because it generates it own oxygen. It left a burned spot on the floor in my room. Beleive it or not my parents were really cool about it and instead of freaking out they went out the next day and bought two big class C fire extinguishers, one was put outside my room and one in the garage.
I progress on, went to college and majored in chemistry, no suprise there.
May 8th, 2008 at 6:03 amso Kevin ya must have been a genious
screaming in french, who that can be ? uh, KANADUUUUU.., merde alors, la belle province n’est plus ce qu’elle était : a tabernacle
May 8th, 2008 at 6:04 amBack in the late 60s a couple high school buddies and I got the bright idea that a fertilizer bomb would be cool! 1lb. coffee can of that shit nearly killed the 3 of us!!!!
May 8th, 2008 at 6:56 amRocket fuel?! You remind me of a guy I knew in high school. One of his lab projects was a still that made potato vodka…and it did. Then he designed a bomb (but was told not to make it) using only hardware from the local stores and materials from a drug store and the pool supply house. He got an A+ and a visit from the FBI. I think they hired him.
I grew up in Vermont. Lots of French-Canadians there. Terrific people who loved life, knew how to cook great food and went totally ape-shit ballistic when the neighbors’ kid set off munitions forty feet from their swimming pool. Touchy people, really. Must be all that wine they drink.
May 8th, 2008 at 8:19 amTouchy people, really. Must be all that wine they drink.
“touchy” must be a quality when one has to deal with “garnements like american boys
I don’t believe that Kanaduuuu drink real wine, must some sort of vinegar they produce with the berries there
May 8th, 2008 at 8:28 amGuys your stories are all great but you are missing the bigger picture…
How are we going to send all these muslims to hell if we keep trying to wash the pork oil off of our grenades? What is next, we stop swabbing our 155’s with pig grease?
