I remember thinking as I was watching Raiders of the Lost Ark that I couldnt believe this movie was made in '81, man time flies. The script called for a very complicated fight with the Arab, but Ford told Spielberg that he was too wasted to manage the shot and suggested a simple solution. Was offered the part of Mike Stivic on "All in the Family" (1971), but turned it down, citing the bigotry of Archie Bunker was too offensive. "I'm very disturbed about the direction American foreign policy is going. I think something needs to be done to help alleviate the conditions which have created a disenfranchised and angry faction in the Middle East. I don't think military intervention is the correct solution. I regret what we as a country have done so far." Oh, and he on registered as a conscientious objector during the Vietnam war.
