Someone who comments frequently on this site has suggested Alaska Congresswoman Sarah Palin for John McCain’s Veep.

I just received a weekly email from our local Down Syndrome support group President that Congresswoman Palin recently gave birth to a baby boy with DS. His name is Trig Paxson Van Palin

Baby Trig had the good sense to be born into a family with four wonderful older siblings … with equally great names: Piper, 7, Willow, 13, Bristol, 17 and Track, 18.

In addition to Rep. Palin, Congresswoman Cathy McMorris-Rodgers of Washington state has a 1 year old son, Cole, with Down Syndrome.

Both women had prenatal testing (which I refused) and were aware early on of the genetic condition(s) and future challenges of their unborn babies.

On this Mother’s Day, I salute them, and all mothers, who do not sit in judgement of their unborn babies …
