I’ve pulled a few good pranks in my time, usually on people who deserved it. In my crew, I tended to be the one to make the crank calls and stuff, because I can sound convincing and not burst out laughing. The other guys will be biting their fingers as I’m spouting utter bullshit with a straight face.

My reputation gives me some more options. “Hey, do you know where I can get a deal on ammonium nitrate?” will often go right over people’s heads, but “I wonder if Ryder or U-Haul is having any specials…” usually gets the desired effect.

And other people have invoked my name in pranks. “Hey, I saw ttb crawl out from under your car. Do me a favor, let me know before you start your car…”

“Hi, this is the phone company. We’re doing some work on your line. The phone will ring a lot for a while, but please don’t pick it up, or I’ll get electrocuted.”

Start calling again and again, and when the moron picks up, “Arrgh!”

If you’re of a more sadistic bent, call saying you’re a doctor at a local clinic, and that they should go to get tested for STDs. Say that someone who doesn’t want their name known gave you a list of people they may have infected. If you’re feeling really evil, call their significant other. Even I only do this to people who cost me money.

its funny how my playstation 2 controller used to be my whipping boy. i would throw that damn thing across the room sometimes. but yeah many times i have been tempted to punch my monitor especially after reading the far left dickheads badmouth our military and that little homo yesterday. but i always stop myself somehow, it would take a little bit to get a new flat screen like i have now. and i have a pretty bad temper

That reminds me of the time my dad got pissed at his computer at work and literally took it out back and drove over it in his Expedition.

“Reading” doesn’t make me feel that way …

I once had an old fashioned mechanical alarm clock, two bells on top with a hammer between them. Loud and annoying as Hell, which was the point. Within a week, I’d gotten my finger caught in it.

I’m sure there are still pieces of it embedded in the walls, floor, and ceiling of that room.

Just my (middle) Kate is still in college.

She’s in the same boat as you with throwing off the grade curve in her chem. classes.

She is deep in finishing up too. Will move home for a couple weeks, and then back up to campus for a job in the bio-chem research lab (genetics).

Did I tell you she’s looking into the Navy for medical school? We’ve been talking to the recruiter of medical schooling, but Kate has one more yr. of pre-med to go.

A sergeant-major had that toy, standing on his desk. Knowing me, a child in a grown-up body, he didn’t flinch an eye when I asked if I could borrow it.

I knew the arrogant s.o.b. Commanding Officer was on his way to an important meeting at Staff, all dressed up, but had a hunch for coffee
I put the remote-controlled car on the floor in the corridor, exactly en-route for the tward, and took a hiding-place in the mens-room. With the mirrors placed in the (for me) right position, hiding in a stall with the door open just a bit, the position of the toy in mind.

He walked towards the door that would bring him outside, the cup filled with coffee still in his hand. Than I made the toy doing “an appearance” and twirl over the corridor-floor in front of his feet. He stumbled and the coffee splashed on his outfit. Right at the best space, full on his “jewels”.
Then, made the toy “drive” back into the mens-room, underneath the stall-door.

Because he was too busy cleaning up himself, he didn’t notice. But I did, having a good view in those mirrors. The most difficult things was to keep myself quite.
He walked into the first office he could find, being the one of the same sergeant-major I had borrow that thingy from. You could hear him screaming all the way down the corridor about what had happened and, of course, demanded an explanation. Getting none he left and by what I learned later, fined an official complaint at the Battalion Commanders office.

The moment I entered the office from the S.M. I saw he had difficulties keeping his act together, as did I. I handed him the toy and he put it in his back-pack with the words: ”I think this evidence needs to go underground for a certain amount of time”. We said our goodbyes and the matter didn’t came up until…….the next week with me arriving at the base again.

My “then” Battalion Commander paid me a visit without any words spoken about the matter, but asking me if I’d stepped up from putting salt in the coffee of arrogant S.O.B.-visitors to just break the legs of S.O.B.-visitors. That it became clear that arrogant Commanding Officers rather often had hot coffee being spilled at “the right place”. If not “by accident” (ahum……) by me, than by “something that made them stumble”. Of course, I played the “dumb blond female”. But My BC left with a big ;). He had already forgiven me for almost driving him off his socks with an army-bike and driving anything that needs a key to ignite.

Really I’m such a nice person and the nickname “most dangerous woman on base” really doesn’t do me any justice. I just jump in front of any army-vehicle any time I need a ride. And so far, every chauffeur used his brakes, being unable to refuse me getting a lift.

I just keep wondering why no one gives me keys anymore, why everybody starts to clean up his desk after I enter an office, how it is possible I can sit at the bar at base without ever paying anything and even a warm meal gets brought to me when I work late. You’d think they like me.

Kate just called me from Kent …

She was just informed, because of her grades, as a junior she’s been given a $2000 grant (See: No need to pay back) for this ending semester … and another $2000 grant (…) for the Fall semester from Kent State University!!!!!

And she can re-apply for those grants in her senior year (I believe the Fall semester she’ll be finishing out her junior year … as she is actually supposed to be a soph., but due to credits/hours whatnot is considered a jr.)

BTW

She also gets paid for the summer research lab work … The research lab work she’s just finishing up from this semester counts as college credit.

Heh, in my case, I should be a Junior (I entered VMI in Fall ‘05), but came down with a sinus condition (due to seasonal allergies) affecting my Eustachian Tube, which messed up my inner ear for a while. The dizzy spells made it almost impossible to drill effectively, so they recommended that I medically withdraw. That following summer, I took some courses at U of Richmond, before going on to Tech. Unfortunately, not all of the credits transferred, so I’m a sophomore when I should be a junior. Fortunately the AP credits I received back in HS did, so I’m not in too bad of shape. Will be working and taking some courses here at Tech this summer, so might still be able to graduate in Fall 2009. Kind of a complicated academic history!

Fortunately, I can still go through USMC OCS (as I’ve always planned to)!

Yeah, Kate tested out of a thing or two her senior year of h.s. and got college credit.

Should the Navy give her a waiver for the 80-85% hearing loss in her right ear she would go the 5 week ODS after graduating Kent and before heading off to whatever medical school she gets accepted at.

When the Navy told her she needed at least a 24 on her M-CATS she said, “I was actually shooting for the 30s” … She was told with the medical waiver, the M-CATS score, and her current GPA staying at 4.0 she wouldn’t even have to interview with the board … she’d automatically be accepted. But knowing MY Kate, I have a feeling she might just inquire if she could face the board anyway … She loves the challenge …

She doesn’t take the M-CATS until around this time next year.
