Coyotes are very numerous anymore here in Ohio. They are a pain in the ass while you are turkey hunting too. I had one come in and attack my turkey decoy on a hunt a couple of weeks ago. Glad the child is ok!

Yep ... that's where I'm at ... Ohio.

Weird to hear them howl at night when I'm out that way.

I don't live too far from Chino Hills. We see these guys all the time but they are apparently afraid of our dogs since they avoid our yard. I was a little shocked to see a mountain lion in the yard one night about a year ago though. Grabbed a :gun: and my 3-iron. Fortunately, the 3-iron and a very large rock were all it took to drive it off.

The thing I miss most about Camp Pendleton is up on the north tip where they hide the infantry, every night when taps would sound over the loud speaker you could hear the coyotes howling in reply.

Coyotes are one of the few animals that have actually increased their natural range along with the growth in the human population. Thanks to trash and the easy prey of pets coyotes now inhabit suburban areas where they never historically were. If the lefties have their way and abolish hunting, this is going to happen more and more...similarly to how in CA since the abolishment of Mtn Lion hunting, depredation permits have skyrocketed.

I do not sport hunt anymore, but I still love to go out and try and pop a Yote every now and then.

Birdddog

I too was calling a gobbler two weeks ago here in Virginia and a large coyote came to my calling. I busted his ass! I could not believe it and wondered why the Tom I was calling hung up before I saw the grey beast.
