“Not Voting For Barack Obama Means You’re A Racist”

That’s what syndicated columnist and member of the editorial board of the San Diego Union-Tribune Ruben Navarrette Jr. basically says at CNN.com today, here’s an excerpt:
…Meanwhile, some white Americans are turning themselves inside out to come up with excuses for why they’re not supporting Obama. It seems like just yesterday that these folks were arguing there is no racism in the immigration debate, and now they’re insisting there is no racism in the presidential election.
Some want to know why it isn’t racist when 70 percent of African-Americans vote for Obama but it is when 70 percent of whites vote against him.
The answer has to do with history. Over the decades, black Americans have had plenty of opportunities to vote for white people for president. And they have done so. But this is the first time that white Americans have a chance to vote for an African-American with a shot at the presidency. And what are they doing?
Many are responding quite well. Obama won the votes of many — to borrow a phrase — “hardworking white Americans — in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska and Wyoming. But, elsewhere, as Obama said in a recent interview, people may need to get their head around the concept of an African-American even seeking the presidency, let alone winning it…

If you can't handle using your real email address, don't bother posting a comment.
If that makes me a racist, then so be it, I’ll carry that name proudly before I’ll betray my country and vote for that muslim 5th column sack of shit Barack Hussein Obama.
May 14th, 2008 at 10:03 amHere’s a fucking clue for ya, Navarrette: I will not vote for the fucking dipshit merely because he’s a dipshit. He could be white, black, purple, polka-dotted or even a shade of fuchsia and I still wouldn’t vote for the asshole.
Now stop fucking race-baiting and debate the *real* issues. Oh, wait. I’m asking CNN to provide some substance. Sorry, my bad.
May 14th, 2008 at 10:03 amTNR contrib Cinque Henderson has a piece on why, as a black man, he isn’t supporting Obama. Unfortunately, he’s supporting the “Dragon Lady” - but, perhaps there is hope after all. http://www.tnr.com/politics/story.html?id=331c77bb-9591-422c-aa2b-11a741c6ebb9&p=3
May 14th, 2008 at 10:04 amThe answer is easy. He is not the person for the job. It’s not his color, It’s his hidden agenda, lack of patriotism, and
May 14th, 2008 at 10:04 amradical religion and muslim influence, willingness to appease terrorists groups, tax raises, just to mention a few.
The answer has to do with history. Over the decades, black Americans have had plenty of opportunities to vote for white people for president. And they have done so. But this is the first time that white Americans have a chance to vote for an African-American with a shot at the presidency. And what are they doing?
———————————-
I have an answer to this question. Its because the blacks had different choices when voting for the white candidates. we just have this one under-qualified guy who happens to be black and do not like his fascist terror supporting views on things. I support Condi Rice, always liked Colin Powell, always liked J.C Watts.
So if not supporting someone who goes against every principle i have in my life makes me a racist because this one Lefty happens to be black then go ahead and call me that. no amount of guilt will ever cause me to vote for Barack Obama
May 14th, 2008 at 10:08 amIf you completly ignore all those issues then I guess I’d have to not be voting on him because he’s black…oh wait, nope it’s because we’re in a war againt terrorists and some of his former political acquaintances and FRIENDS ARE terrrorists.
The fact he’s gotten so far already dumbfounds me.
May 14th, 2008 at 10:10 amGee Navarrette, I thought I was supposed to vote for the best candidate for the job, not the color of his skin.
I am sick and fucking tired of these ultra liberal journalist morons trying to justify electing Hussein because they feel that America has a “responsibility” to elect an African American president.
May 14th, 2008 at 10:15 amI was going to vote for McCain. Now I guess I will have to vote for someone whose values, morals and lack of patriotism offend me because I fear being labled a racist.
Of course not, but there are plenty of white folks who will vote for Hussien based on a misplaced sense of guilt.
Sadly, this sort of racial politics will work on some people.
May 14th, 2008 at 10:15 am“Many are responding quite well.” what are we fucking patients, do we need to be cured, responding quite well, bunch of fucktards.
Oh what i really love is that hardworking Americans only come from the Midwest, well at least were good for something if we aren’t voting for Obama.
May 14th, 2008 at 10:26 amNavarette is of the group of liberal morons that believe America has a “responsibility” to elect an African American president.
May 14th, 2008 at 10:31 amHow about Colin Powell or Condoleezza Rice? I’m sure many of these “white Americans” would be willing to vote for them. If Obama weren’t so liberal, he might have half a chance. The first black president is going to have to be more conservative.
May 14th, 2008 at 10:35 amThe fact of the matter is that he IS a Black Radical.
You think its bloody now with the strife wait to see how bloody its going to get.
He will KOWTOW to every black leader. You can bet on it
“Race is the key to world history”- Benjamin Desraeli
May 14th, 2008 at 10:36 amConsider the source, if you do not advocate open borders and amnesty, instead of an attrition through law enforcement approach to illegal immigration then Navarette considers you a racist as well.
I am not voting for Barry because of whom he has associated with to get elected and his record of voting “present” in the U.S. Senate along with his lackluster achievements. Plus he hung his Granny out to dry painting her as some Grandwizard of Honolulu.
I would vote someone of color if they had substance and a proven track record. J.C. Watts & Bobby Jindal come to mind.
May 14th, 2008 at 10:37 amObama won those white votes before the whole Rev. Wright issue was wide known. I am sure whites would have rejected him if they knew he was hanging around black racists. Also if his San Fran comments were out before he would have lost many more too. He is a weak candidate and he will lose an election Democrats should have won. I thank god for letting this come out now. I won’t vote for him and my response would be he is TOO liberal for me. Color doesn’t matter he doesn’t share my values or view about the country. He speaks of change, but I reject his change since it is more taxes and more racial preferences for blacks. I also believe that most blacks didn’t vote before, but now they are coming out of the woodwork to vote. They are only looking for a hand out in the form of so called slave reparations.
CNN sucks I wish it would just go out of business now and stop trying to spread their sick agenda.
May 14th, 2008 at 10:46 amso if he is getting 90-95% of the black vote, and they are doing it “just cuz he’s black” - who is being racist here?
The man is dangerously inexperienced and has a complete aversion to common sense and the principles of individual liberty.
May 14th, 2008 at 12:09 pmWell the whites are the ones being racist. Don’t you know that blacks were slaves 150 years ago? That mean’s they can’t be racist.
May 14th, 2008 at 12:31 pmThe writer of this article is a well-known idiot in these parts. He writes the most ridiculous, absurd, frankly, stupid opinions. He’s the epitome of everything that is wrong with the media.
May 14th, 2008 at 12:44 pmOH, and Ruben is in for a rude awakening when he wakes up on Nov. 5 and sees Obama has become the black George McGovern. Having said that, I think the GOP is going to get a whooping in the House and Senate, based on what has been happening so far…
May 14th, 2008 at 12:47 pmNo it doesnt mean Im racist it means I dont want a dumbass running our country.
May 14th, 2008 at 12:49 pm“It seems like just yesterday that these folks were arguing there is no racism in the immigration debate…”
Here we go again, drawing a false conclusion based on false premise. I never knew “criminal’ was a race. No dumbass, it has nothing to do with race, it has to do with entering our country illegally, taking up residence illegally and using our system illegally. Notice a common theme running through all of that? Dumbass!
Race has nothing to do with it. Being a dumbass, does.
May 14th, 2008 at 12:57 pmBeing called racist by douche bag liberals is always a badge of honor.
May 14th, 2008 at 1:59 pmRuben, how much is Hamas paying you to write that crap?
May 14th, 2008 at 2:14 pmThe first black president is going to have to be an American first, last and above anything else.
May 14th, 2008 at 2:35 pmThe liberals have to use the racist ploy because Black people and eggheads don’t have the numbers to win. Common sense conservative Democrats and Republicans will not be able to vote for Obama under any circumstance.
Obama has the depth of a Cream Puff and nothing more.
May 14th, 2008 at 3:31 pm…and anytime President O doesn’t get a bill he wants to go through, he’ll accuse his racist opponents of not wanting a black president to succeed. Just imagine, four years of Republicans being called racists and voting down his proposals as hate crimes. Don’t let this man into office.
May 14th, 2008 at 4:37 pm“…people may need to get their head around the concept of an African-American even seeking the presidency, let alone winning it…”
Er, yeah… one named Barack Hussein Obama with all the race baiting baggage it and his husband Michelle carries.
May 14th, 2008 at 8:05 pmYou know what’s really funny?
May 15th, 2008 at 12:24 amObama isn’t “Black”. He’s an Arab. He’s lying about his ethnicity
to get lumped into the civil rights struggles of America’s past.
So everyone is getting all excited about black liberation struggles
and MLK and all that - when it is totally irrelevant to Obama’s
case.
I even found this same narrative appearing on Fox News.
I turned them off. I think I’ll just give the news media
a complete miss until after the election. They are disgusting.
Nah….not voting for Obama Bin Lying means you’re a realist.
May 15th, 2008 at 4:50 am
unless you make over 100,000.00 a year or are a black welfare(with slave blood)leech…obama WILL cost you WAY more than you can EVER afford!
July 30th, 2008 at 7:50 pmThe Dems have failed to give us anyone decent to vote for. BO is a rock star with nothing to show for himself to give us an idea he knows what he’s doing president wise. A lot of people get all warm and fuzzy about him, but he doesn’t have anything to show for himself except a lot of hype. He might sound all sweet and harmonize the vibe, but he needs to have some real experience and a real track record to make me have faith in his methodoligy. If the actor Morgan Freeman were running, I would have more faith in him! It’s not the color of his skin, it’s the dog and pony show he’s in the middle of! This entire election is just setting him up for a life of fame and fortune. No matter what happens, in the end, he’ll end up coming out smelling like a rose. He’ll be like Martha Stuart, just keep getting richer and more fame. The rest of us will be left with the big mess, and no one decent to lead the country. The rich will just keep getting richer and the poor poorer, as we pull up to the pumps and buy our liquid gold gas with what little crumbs we’ve not got to spare. There are higher powers that are really running the show and we are all just pawns in their master plan. I’m just glad I don’t have children so I don’t have to worry about their fate. The leadership in our country is a total joke.
September 20th, 2008 at 11:11 pmAs a Black American Conservative Army Warrant Officer, I know Barack Obama does not think too highly of Black America. Whether liberal
puppet-masters in his campaign are prompting this or Obama, himself, lacks a
real connection with the Black American struggle, one thing is clear: Barack
Obama and his party do not want us to leave the oppressive plantation mindset
that has exploited the Black vote for years.
Obama is far more liberal than he is Black. His elitist views that Black
Americans cannot succeed, contribute to society, or take care of our families
without government mandated programs and policies, promote the racist idea
that somehow the Black race is inferior while he ignores the magnificent
accomplishments and achievements of our ancestors.
Despite what history tells us, we are led to believe by liberal politicians
and the mainstream media that we are not capable of taking care of ourselves
and our families, and therefore must be kept in the bondage of a welfare
mentality that will never afford us our true worth today or future potential
for our children and grandchildren.
We are led to believe that the Black American cannot be equally, if even
more, qualified for a promotion, and therefore must rely on Affirmative
Action, which further promotes animosity and suspicion with our co-workers
and fellow Americans.
We are led to believe that Black Americans are not smart enough to succeed in
private schools and therefore must be stuck in a failing education system,
rather than grant us greater opportunities with vouchers to attend better
schools.
We are led to believe that Black American children offer nothing to society
and therefore must be aborted, accounting for 40 percent of all abortions in
America.
We led to believe that the importance of the father to the Black American
family is archaic and far less important than two mothers.
This should outrage Black America.
Liberals like Obama refuse to accept that Black Americans are perfectly
capable of living the American dream without the government’s help. We are
entrepreneurs, doctors, lawyers, teachers and community leaders. We are great
contributors to society, like our ancestors, and realize there is no better
place on earth for such an opportunity to do so than America.
America is not our enemy. The White man is not our enemy. The liberal mindset
and preconceived agenda of Black America, fueled and exploited by politicians
and the media, are our enemies. To continually and erroneously define the
Black American as incompetent is but a sinister plot to convince Black
Americans we cannot succeed and must surrender our freedoms, fearful to leave
the plantation mindset.
Historically, this has been the endeavor of Barack Obama’s party. The
Democrat agenda has historically intended to bind the freedoms of Black
America. Once their racist laws were reversed, programs were put into place
to keep us as a people forever dependent on the government master. The torch
has merely been repackaged and passed to Barack Obama; the old playbook,
newly re-designed with a cover of “compassion”.
Obama and his party have a vested interest in the race issue. To continue to
define us by our race and not our contributions and abilities, they
relentlessly strive to shackle our inherent right to accomplishment and
achievement. Once we identify ourselves as Americans first, race disappears
and we let go of the bigoted and false notion that Black Americans are
excluded from the American dream. The minute we throw off the chains of
expected mediocrity and truly accept that we as Black Americans can and will
contribute, compete and prosper, we leave the plantation mindset and the
master forever loses our power and our votes.
As a Black American, I refuse to accept an agenda by Obama or any other
September 24th, 2008 at 2:26 pmliberal politician that seeks to segregate my race from the American

will only ensure the cycle of bondage retains its ugly stronghold.
