UPDATE:

BOSTON (Reuters) - Sen. Edward Kennedy, a leading Democrat and patriarch of a prominent American political dynasty, has hospitalized in Boston, a spokesman for a hospital in Cape Cod said.

Kennedy, 76, was rushed from the Kennedy compound at Hyannisport, Massachusetts, to Cape Cod Hospital at 9 a.m. (1300 GMT), a hospital spokesman told Reuters.

He was then airlifted to a Boston hospital, the spokesman said.

CNN reported Kennedy was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital with symptoms of a stroke, citing a prominent state Democrat it did not identify.

The long-serving Massachusetts senator is a leading liberal voice in the United States and has actively campaigned for Barack Obama in his bid for the Democratic presidential nomination.

Kennedy had preventive surgery at Boston’s Massachusetts General Hospital in October to unclog a partially blocked carotid artery in his neck.

The blockage was discovered during a routine check of Kennedy’s back and spine, doctors said. A blocked carotid artery can lead to a stroke and death, they said.

Kennedy has suffered from back problems since a plane crash in 1964 in which the pilot and one of Kennedy’s aides were killed and the senator was pulled from the wreckage with a back injury, punctured lung, broken ribs and internal bleeding.

The youngest brother of assassinated U.S. President John F. Kennedy, Kennedy was elected to the Senate in 1962 and currently serves as chairman of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions. He ran for the presidency in 1980.

He helped win an increase in the national minimum wage this year and worked with Republicans to produce broad immigration reform, which failed in the Senate after stiff opposition from conservative Republicans.

Prominent liberal US Senator Edward Kennedy was rushed to a local hospital in the state of Massachusetts with stroke symptoms, CNN reported Saturday.

Quoting a Democratic Party source in the northeastern state, CNN said that he was taken from the Kennedy family compound in the town of Hyannis to a nearby hospital.

There were plans to transfer him to the larger Massachusetts General Hospital in the city of Boston, according to CNN.

Kennedy, 76, is the last surviving brother of slain president John F. Kennedy, who was killed in 1963

“Go into the light”, Teddy …

I don’t care … pass me a turd and I’ll enjoy the smoke in Purgatory.

  2. rightangle

Is the term “kwag-maya” about to slip from the beltway lexicon?

  3. Dan (The Infidel)

I won’t miss his ass if he leaves. Hell is full of tards like Kennedy. BTW, I don’t think his blocked artery is in his neck, I think its in his damned head. How else can one explain the brain-dead shit he does to this country?

  4. Steve in NC

    QUICK GET HIM TO CANADA!!!

He needs quality ‘free’ health care!

  5. Steve in NC

BTW, years ago when I was told of rose kennedy’s death my reaction was, “finally it’s about time that breeder of liberals slipped off to hell”
that sort of made my politics clear to everyone at work
    ….
If he doesn’t make it, do you think that the devil will make saddam do body shots out of teddy’s cavernous navel?

  8. drillanwr (hembra blanca típica)

The cable news outlets (3 of my 4) appear to be in “pre”-obit-mode with incessant ‘remembrance’ and ‘reflective’ coverage of Kennedy’s political history.

    The MSM are buzzards …

  9. Kevin M

If Ted Kennedy has a stroke, how could you tell?

  10. Mike W

This could be just a rumor but I heard that he and Michael Moore where doing a baby seal swallowing benefit for polar bears and that Kennedy tried swallowing 3 at once.Just a rumor mind you.

  11. Arthuraria

Now, now folks. We all talk about how horrible the left is when they say they hope the cancer gets Tony Snow this time. Ted may be a liberal with terrible politics and terrible ideas and a patchy private life, but he’s still a fellow American.

  12. drillanwr (hembra blanca típica)

    OH! Never fear …

Sen. John Kerry has arrived at the hospital … evidently to ‘lay-hands-on’ Kennedy and cure him (because you know John Edwards in the 2004 prez. campaign promised Kerry was the one true healer …)

  13. Leatherneck

Birth was the death of him.

The devil doesn’t live in hell. “He roams the earth seeking whom he may devour”. He lives in this continum.

Not to worry, the demons that are in hell will give Teddy all that he deserves. No water, no air, no hope. He can listen to the wails and moans of his family members until judgement day…and they’ll be able to hear his.

He;; be by himself with no one to keep him company, except the demons that are running the show.

Couldn’t happen to a better POS.

As you can tell he took serious care of himself. He fits in the “typical fat American” box.

    And mind your punctuation.

I’ll dance at his funeral, piss on his grave, and kick over his headstone.

That useless, fat bastard has lived far longer than he deserves.

    I wouldn’t wish a stroke on anyone…

But if someone has to have one, Teddy is a good choice.

He’s as good as dead unless Greenpeace pushes him back into the sea.

“…We all talk about how horrible the left is when they say they hope the cancer gets Tony Snow this time….”

Don’t recall Tony Snow being a champion swimmer yet sitting on the bank while a young girl drowned in the back seat of his car gasping for air.
Hope the blimp’s demons don’t let him off the planet without feeling what she must have felt.
    ADIOS you piece of shit.
    (See…. no politics.)

  27. Kurt(the infidel)

not gonna do it. im gonna leave that kind of shit for those fuckers over at the Huffington Post or DailyKos who wished that Tony Snow would die of cancer.

Dont like Kennedy one bit but im staying out of this one

  28. rightangle

You’re right Kurt. Besides the people of Massachusetts aren’t ready for another Big-Dig.

  30. MarineSgt

I’m not gonna wish death upon a man, no matter how much I hate him and his politics, but the non-stop coverage of this is what is really pissing me off.

Where was the news at when Medal of Honor recipient Cpl. Jason Dunham was dying in Bethesda? He’s a liberal senator and he had a seizure. He’s not dead. End story. NEXT TOPIC.

  31. Ivan the Kafir

Forty-six fucking years! He has to be the single longest-serving piece of shit ever to be left in the Senate. Someone remind me how long Queen Victoria reigned - it was comparable. Anyone ever notice its the libs that come out the decades-long incumbents? Anyone got any answers for that?

  32. Goodbye Natalie

I suppose if I was to be the anti-KKKos right now, I’d be wishing for Ted’s demise in the most painful of ways.

As it is, I think I’ll just say, “Teddy, if you want to hear a really good ‘idear’, you might want to rethink how you been living your life the past 50 years. You’re running out of time repent and eternity is a very long time.”

  33. Ang

    Is he dead yet??

Wonder how Mary Jo’s family feels?

  36. JJIrons

It only took one helicopter to lift him? Was it a MH-53E? Otherwise, I just don’t believe it!

  37. Mike W

Breitbart is reporting that it wasnt a stroke but a seizure:Sen. Edward M. Kennedy was airlifted to a hospital Saturday after suffering a seizure at his home, and did not appear to have had a stroke as initially suspected, his spokeswoman said.
What really made me laugh was this comment by Harry Weed: “But the one thing I can say, if there ever was a fighter, anyone who stood for what we as Americans, we as Democrats, stand for, it’s Ted Kennedy,” Reid said.
Yep running off and leaving a woman to drown is the sign of a true democrat.

  38. Mike F

Ted Kennedy suffered a seizure? I think it’s more like the seizure suffering Ted Kennedy! Take the bridge route, you fat-assed Socialist puke!

  39. Brad (Future Priest)

I hate the man’s politics. I hate his character. I hate his cowardness and stupidity. But I will pray for him. If it’s his last hour, I hope he has a priest near by. Lord knows he needs one.
