For me at least, this is a pivotal issue. I live with the results of a failed border policy every day and it pisses me off. As far as this particular issue goes, I can’t see any difference between McCain and the two Dhimwits. If this were the only issue, I would no more vote for McCain than Obama. We have 20 million illegals running apeshit wild in our country. Our prisons are filled with them. They bring drugs into our country. There can be little doubt the goat fuggers have slipped in with them and are now, located in our cities, planning to blow shit up. We could have stopped them. We still can but we aren’t going to because none of the candidates want to. The very thought of our government sitting by, allowing this to occur makes me spit fire.

However, the border is just one of many issues, issues where McCain stands out as our only hope. I’m not happy about the choices we have this election but after many nights banging my head against the wall, I am leaning toward a vote for McCain because something is better than nothing at all. The way I’m seeing it, if we vote in a Dhim, we’ll be fighting the entire war on terror on our own soil. With McCain, at least (hopefully) the majority of the war will be fought on the goat fuggers turf.

Remember this, the congress has more power on immigration, so for those who are concerned, at least McCain will be out of there, however on the issue of foreign policy the president pretty much a free hand, look at Bush in the last 6 years, the dems haven’t been able to stop him.

I have a choice, vote for someone who I only half agree with, or withhold my vote, thereby aiding someone who despises me and pisses on everything I care about. This should not be a tough one.

The ‘if my party’s candidate isn’t perfectly orthodox I’m staying home’ mindset is like pacifism. Refusing to help the good because they’re not perfect is aiding and abetting the bad. Far too many people make the perfect the enemy of the good.

Instead of doing everything you can to drive McCain to the left, try bringing him back to the right. Otherwise, cling to your delusions of moral superiority, small protection that they’ll be when the country starts falling apart.

Voting McCain is just a lighter shade of liberal than the Dems on a variety of issues(immigration, global warming, McCain/Feingold, closing Gitmo, etc). I don’t trust him, plain and simple. At least Clinton and Obama don’t pretend to be conservative.

My point about my values is that I don’t want to compromise any of them. If there are no political candidates that share my values, then I am going to vote for someone who does. If you moderates want to bite the bullet and vote for the lesser evil, then go for it. I’m not trying to tell anyone how to vote, just telling ya’ll how I am going to vote.

The liberals and the MSM in this country still have hold over the ‘minds’ of folks in this country, convincing them that Utopia can exist … and THEY are the ones to bring it to the masses.

People in this country looking for more government hands in their pockets, and pushing for nationalized healthcare should wake up and smell the used-hospital-sheets at how things have failed in the European socialized systems … and how they are trying hard now to get the hell out of it.

I respect the fact that you feel strongly about your values and beliefs. That in itself is honorable. However, the system we currently have does not recognize “maverick” conservatives such as yourself, and frankly probably never will. WE as a people, as Americans must realize that the majority of us actually fall into the middle of the political spectrum, and I would venture to say that there are only a few major issues that make us either Democrats or Republicans. Fortunate or unfortunate: Majority rules.

I understand. However, given who McCain is, I don’t think us conservatives are going to have much of an effect this cycle, at least in the presidential race. If McCain gets elected it will be because of his appeal to moderate democrats and independents. Plus, I’m sure a good number of conservatives will bite the bullet and vote for him after the Dems pick their nominee. Just not me.

Also, I don’t quite buy the “If we conservatives come out strong for McCain, he’ll stay in line” argument. This is John McCain. The Maverick. He’s going to do what he is going to do. He’s proven that on more than one occasion.

i.e. last summer’s amnesty bill that was done behind closed doors. He(and many others, I don’t give him all the blame, but still, he was a part of it) tried to push that through as quick as possible before anyone could find out what it was about.

AS it stands right now, I’m more concerned about congress. Not much of a point arguing about what McCain will do if there’s a democrat controlled House and Senate that can override his veto.
