I think Franchie is right, there is no shortage of crude oil in the world. Drill in ANWR, the gulf of Mexico, east and west coasts(preferably right off the beach at Malibu!). Not to mention the new fields discovered in N Dakota. Just the mention of doing such will see the prices come tumbling down. The industry or government should also build a reserve in refining capacity

I say we help accommodate them. We can start by leveling every refinery they have and show them that $200 a barrel x 0 = Zero for the mullah pimps.

And while we’re at it, why don’t we give them a real sniff of what payback smells like. I know some desalination plants that would make a prime target for some JDAMs.

Let’s see how they like $200.00 a bottle drinking water.

The Congress will not make a move until its survival is threatened by the people. If the Congress was really concerned about the survival of the country they would work to secure our oil/coal reserves so that we are productive. They are more interested in getting re-elected and securing their future. The pandering to the special interests and high powered lobbyists is the reason for this problem. The people need to rise up and demand action from these representatives.

We are just another buyer of this natural resource. With globalization and exporting of American culture, India and China (1/2 of the world’s population?) have an aspiring middle class that want all of the goodies: cars, electronics, fancy homes, all this stuff consumes energy.

It took nature about 3 billion years to product this resource. The “oil age” as it will be know, has a period of 300 years for the broad human civilization.

Get use to using less oil unless you are wealthy. And unless there is a magic energy bullet in the future, life is going to change a bunch in the next 30-40 years.

Im not the oil wizard or anything but i know we better do something soon because this country is going to fall if oil keeps going any higher, which undoubtedly it will go higher.

Iran needs their ass beat for a few reason but mostly because of their role in Iraq. Bush is supposed to be asking the Saudis to crank out more oil but not sure if that will do anything at all. Gas tax holiday is a joke, we need to have one massive push and just start drilling everywhere then watch Saudi Arabia and Venezuela crumble back to the shit holes they are supposed to be

This country is paying the price for the inbred lawyer types who get into politics.

Congress is a closed shop, group of elitists having there little ego turf wars, and the Nation suffers.

They collectively, as a group, have a very naive, childish, ego maniacal perception of the realties of the world.

“If current conditions continue” which means that unless we pull out of Iraq we’ll see higher gas prices. Trust me Iran CAN make this happen. Any added instability in the region will shoot the price through the roof. I say we drill, and we drill NOW!
