Who the hell do these people at the U.N. think they are? Talk about the audacity of dope…

Oh, and by the way, the “Special Rappoteur” that the U.N. is sending is Doudou Diene, who you may remember was also the same “Special Rapporteur” that was sent to investigate the “Racism” in Denmark when the anti-Islamic political cartoons came out. About that incident, Diene said at the UN News Centre:

Referring to the recent controversial depictions of the Prophet Muhammad in Danish newspaper cartoons and the violent reactions, he said the cartoons illustrated the increasing emergence of the racist and xenophobic currents in everyday life. But the political context in Denmark was what had given birth to the cartoons.

It was one in which an extremist political party enjoyed 13 per cent of the vote and had formed part of the governing coalition. The development of Islamophobia or any racism and racial discrimination always took place in the context of the emergence of strong racist, extremist political parties and a corresponding absence of reaction against such racism by the country’s political leaders, Mr. Diène said.

Oh, and by the way! Let’s consider this Diene guy, he is a Muslim from Senegal and he’s been the subject of controversial “Race Findings” in past similar assignments from the UN, read about the Brazil debacle here.

When he did a similar investigation in Japan in 2006, this was said about him :

Japan’s minorities, including indigenous Ainu, Koreans and other Asians, have traditionally faced discrimination. Some domestic critics here contend that Diene’s views are biased because he relied heavily on input from special-interest groups with political agendas.

I find it interesting to note that Doudou Diene has tended in his reports to display a bias in favour of Islam and fails to distinguish between “Islamophobia” and rational concerns regarding the rise of Islamic extremism. He also fails to distinguish between opposition to Islamic ideas and hatred of Muslims.

GENEVA – A special U.N. human rights investigator will visit the United States this month to probe racism, an issue that has forced its way into the race to secure the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination.

The United Nations said Doudou Diene would meet federal and local officials, as well as lawmakers and judicial authorities during the May 19-June 6 visit.

“The special rapporteur will…gather first-hand information on issues related to racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance,” a U.N. statement said on Friday.

His three-week visit, at U.S. government invitation, will cover eight cities — Washington D.C., New York, Chicago, Omaha, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Miami and San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Race has become a central issue in the U.S. election cycle because Sen. Barack Obama, the frontrunner in the battle for the Democratic nomination battle, stands to become the country’s first African American president.

His campaign has increased turnout among black voters but has also turned off some white voters in a country with a history of slavery and racial segregation.

Diene, a Senegalese lawyer who has served in the independent post since 2002, will report his findings to the U.N. Human Rights Council next year.

In a report last year he said Islamophobia had grown worldwide since the September 11 2001 attacks on the United States, carried out by al-Qaeda militants.
