People are buying them for their homes and businesses like mad, did a quick Google search on “Buy Sandbags”…
Found some for as low as 19 cents each here and others for as much as 50 cents each, like here.

June 18th, 2008 at 8:28 amI think it’s interesting that my fellow midwesterners are not looting stores and screaming racism for the government not acting as fast as they would prefer them to. I think it’s funny how when flood victims are interviewed they speak of how unfortunate it is, but how they will just work through it and fix/rebuild the things that need it….instead of demanding $2000 debit cards and relocation assistance programs. I’ll wager that these flooded communities look as good as new in under a year, while parts of New Orleans still sit waiting for someone else to clean up the mess.
