Imus Clarifies: “I Was Defending, Not Offending Pacman Jones” - With Video

NEW YORK — Radio host Don Imus said Tuesday he was making “a sarcastic point” that police often unfairly target blacks when he asked about Adam “Pacman” Jones’ race on his show.

Imus, who lost his job last year after comments on the Rutgers University women’s basketball team, said the latest controversy is fueled by people who are out to get him.

“No man has more discussions about race than I have,” he said. “Why not report on that? I know some people want to get me, but this is ridiculous.”

Imus pointed out that his show has a black producer and two black co-hosts.

Jones, a Dallas Cowboys defensive back who has had run-ins with the law and is serving a suspension from the National Football League, recently announced he wanted to be known by his real name, Adam or Mr. Jones, rather than his nickname.

Jones said his decision is an attempt to disassociate himself with his well-chronicled history of trouble.

The Imus controversy erupted Monday morning when sportscaster Warner Wolf told Imus that Jones wanted to swap monikers.

“He’s been arrested six times since being drafted by Tennessee in 2005,” Wolf said.

I am completely sick and fucking tired of people being “offended”.

If this old dude don’t like black people, guess what,I don’t fucking care!

If some black dude don’t like white people, guess what, I don’t fucking care!

Sticks and stones people…sticks and fucking stones.

This country needs to lighten the fuck up!

    I agree completely.

this country has gone too damn pc and its really messing us all up in the process. a guy on radio calls a black basketball team some “nappy headed hoes” and then all hell breaks loose. Imus is just like the rest of us, he hears them being called that on rap songs and MTV and movies. he is obviously just fucking around when he says that stuff. and this does not apply to just blacks and whites or don imus, it applies to all subjects and all people. its all ok or none of it is ok

    I’m not defending “P.M. Jones”.

And if this offends him…tough shit.

P.M Jones, you could not have been a Major League Baseball Player regardless of your extraordinary athletic talent and being the perfect height and weight for a MBL position player.

Why? Because you are not smart enough to stay in “The Show” for very long.

The MLB players that actually have a career in the Majors, all of them, have one, and only one thing in common…they’re all SMART!

If your not smart, you’re not in the Majors for very long for a myriad of reasons.

P.M Jones, your not that smart, never-the-less, have fun in the NFL, I hope you play long enough to make your pension.

    No, really, I do.

Imus is cowering rushing to avoid another grovel session at the alter of Sharpton. Suck it up Don and be a man, stand up to Al.

This Pacman Jones has been arrested 6 times, and Imus plays the “I mention he is black because a disproportionate youths are incarcerated or arrested” or something to that nature, is BULLSHIT!

To say that Jones was arrested for no reason, implies that Police are targeting him, instead of his oh I don’t know inciting a riot leading to a man being paralyzed at a strip club in Vegas, among other violations of the law.

I stopped going to NFL games a few years back ever since professional sports has become a circus of thugs. These clowns play victim to excuse their behavior off the field. No excuses.

I started watching a manlier sport whenever it is on my satellite, and that is Rugby. I watched the Rugby World Cup last fall and I was hooked. I didn’t watch an NFL game for more than 5 minutes all season, I barely paid attention to the Superbowl, except for the last drive, which is rare for me. Guys the size of NFL lineman running back and forth on a 100 yard field for 80 minutes, now they are athletes, and they are gentlemen off the field, not coke head sex fiends that find Jesus when it is convenient.
