While responding to French President Sarkozy’s remarks (Video of that here) that France would never allow Iran to have nuclear weapons, Benjamin Netanyahu (Bibi if ya like his style) stood up in the Israeli Knesset (their Parliament/Congress) and said that Nazism and Islamism are basically the same thing. This brought heckling from Arab members of the Knesset.

But he is absolutely right.

Sarkozy also said that Jerusalem should be the divided capital of Irael and Palestine. Netanyahu addressed Sarkozy…From Ynet:

Opposition leader Benjamin Netanyahu told the French president, “I can rule without hesitation that you are a true friend of Israel.” He went on to say that “Jerusalem will never be divided, just like no person would ever think of dividing any European state. We will never return to the 1967 borders and will never withdraw from the Golan Heights.”

Benjamin Netanyahu (also known as Bibi) is the head of the Likud party and the leader of the current opposition in the Knesset. A former prime minister (1996-1999), he was the first to ever be voted prime minister via direct elections; and later served as foreign minister and finance minister under Ariel Sharon.

Between 1956-1958 and again in 1963-1967 the family lived in the United States. In 1967 Netanyahu returned to Israel and joined the IDF’s elite unit of Sayeret Matkal (General Staff Reconnaissance Unit), graduated officers’ training with honors and later received a special commendation as company commander. He left the IDF in 1972, returned to the US and began his studies at MIT.

When the Yom Kippur War broke out in 1973, Netanyahu returned to Israel and joined the fighting forces in the Suez Canal and the Golan Heights. When the war ended he returned to Boston, where he got his Bachelors’ Degree in architecture and his Masters in Business and went on to study political science in Harvard University. More here.
