NHRA Veteran Scott Kalitta Dies In 300 mph Fiery Crash
I was a big NHRA fan in the late 80’s and early 90’s…this guy was a great racer and has been racing a long time.

I have watched this crash 3 times now and at the very end you can see where it looks as if he ran head on into the camera boom truck at the end of the run away ramp. What a shame but he died doing what he wanted to do.

My husband is a HUGE NHRA fan … His week is literally planned around races on TV … (He’s a former amature drag racer …)
He was watching this one today before leaving for work just after the crash …
He’s going to be shocked, to say the least.
WOW!
June 21st, 2008 at 7:56 pmOh my fuckn’ gawd…
I can’t believe this happened.
The Kilitta family is arguably as important to Drag racing as Don Garlits is.
To Scott’s father, Connie and to the rest of the Kalitta family you have my deepest sympathy’s.

June 21st, 2008 at 9:10 pmBummer. He was a good shoe. I don’t care what kind of race car it is, none are built to withstand a direct head-on into a concrete wall at 100+ MPH.
