June 22nd, 2008 at 3:34 pm…and no one goes down to the accident scene to see if they could help

June 22nd, 2008 at 6:34 pmnot actually sure if there was an “accident” per se. i didn’t see any evidence in the background, and traffic along the interstate and the access road is moving along like nothing is wrong. no ‘rubber-neckers’
June 22nd, 2008 at 11:15 pmi have a few years of OTR experience (with 18 wheelers) and i’ve seen trailers that had a set of duals “spin off” the spindle. most likely the driver is a lazy sob and hasn’t been doing his daily safety checks like he should have-but that’s my opinion. they run low on lube, the spindle heats up and we all just saw the result. a set of duals with the hubs would weigh around 500+ lbs, just guessing from experience. coming off a semi at 60+ mph, they’re gonna do a lot of damage.
