I’ve posted before on this subject. That as a kid my feet would be covered with black tar on the Santa Barbara beaches from natural seepage. The beaches are absolutely clean now. Veneco is one of the major platform companies and do an excellent job. Check out their website at:

I have to admit, given how liberal UCSB is, I was totally shocked to hear a UCSB professor state it would be wiser for use to drill for oil than have third world countries delivering oil to us.

Thanks for the post.

Looks like Santa Barbara will be in a few headlines in the near future.

Here’s a hilarious story about SB. The city council had voted to paint a blue line across the city’s midsection to designate where the ocean would be in 20 years due to global warming. The citizens became outraged. Not because they thought global warming is a hoax and not because of the taxpayer expense to graffiti the city. No, those on the ocean side of that blue line were pissed that this publicity stunt was going to damage their property values!

When it effects the pocket book, even liberals begin to shape up. There may be hope for off shore drilling in SB!!

Hell, Pat. I thought the answer was skinny dipping, greasy hippies. There’s enough oil, on those soap fearing commies, to run our cars for the next 30 years.

Or Drill, I guess I should say. I gotta pay attention to who’s posting.

We know all about that in Louisiana, where 1/3 of the oil and gas produced by the U.S. comes from of our coast. That is where the divers and fishermen go if they want to spear or catch something.

Safe and clean to drill offshore.

You must remember that the “jackets” which are the structures that go from the seabed to the actual platform are designed to withstand the shockwaves from an atomic blast. They are not tinkertoys. They take the pounding from the seas for at least 20 years. The jackets located off of the mouth of the Mississippi River are even designed to withstand huge mudslides. To top it all off there are a located above faultlines. True these are insulated by layer upon layer of sediment, but they do withstand tremors.

Let’s face it oil collects according to the faultlines and oil producing areas are full of them. This is one of the things that seismic surveys look for.
