For Our Friend John: Requiem For A Soldier

(respectful nods to Jeanet)
Be respectful of others and their opinions. Inflammatory remarks and inane leftist drivel will be deleted. It ain’t about free speech, remember you’re in a private domain. My website, my prerogative.
If you can't handle using your real email address, don't bother posting a comment.
Very appropriate. I didn’t know the man but certainly can feel the loss. May he rest in peace in the loving arms of Jesus. His fight is over. God bless him…
July 19th, 2008 at 2:57 pmI’m a regular visitor to the site (usually multiple times a day to keep up). I’ve only posted one comment previously (acually a question), but this outpouring of respect and emotion really got to me and also got me thinking. It’s weird I don’t know anyone on this site, but the candid viewpoints, comments and communications between the posters and the regular commentors on the site and those, like myself, who are regular visitors, do make a personal connection in my opinion. I do get a sense of community here. I can just see the initial comments on a posted article or video and I pretty much can always tell if it’s you, Drill, or Bash etc. It’s a weird feeling to me seeing as I’ve never met anyone from this site, but I do feel like I know what some of them are like. Just my 2 cents, but it does strike me as odd.
July 19th, 2008 at 3:36 pmI have been thinking about the passing of John all day, and its really sad. the main thing i picked up from his posts consistently is that he was a good man. very patriotic which was proven through his words but more importantly through his many years of service to this great country. this song was a very appropriate choice. even though thinking about it and listening to this song has equaled a punch in the gut kind of feeling. just a shame we have to lose such good men.
July 19th, 2008 at 4:04 pmLet’s face it, the American people treated Viet Nam Veterans like shit. If it makes a difference to any of you out there: I’m sorry. You were awesume. Fuck the hippies.
R.I.P. Brother John.

It’s like Kurt(the infidel) said, ” a punch in the gut”.
And I’ve been trying all afternoon to figure out why. Well, your words in the above post explain it.
Thank you.
July 19th, 2008 at 6:22 pmThere’s now a link to John’s guestbook on John’s main page story.
July 19th, 2008 at 6:27 pmGod bless our military and John Cunningham. I agree with rest of you, reading his comments and stories are and will be missed.
July 19th, 2008 at 7:09 pmNever met anyone on this site either, but does bring communion.
July 19th, 2008 at 8:55 pm“The title for the book and the series [Band of Brothers] comes from a famous speech delivered by Henry V of England before the Battle of Agincourt in William Shakespeare’s Henry V; Act IV, Scene 3:
And Crispin Crispian shall ne’er go by,
July 19th, 2008 at 9:14 pmFrom this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remember’d;
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne’er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition:
And gentlemen in England now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin’s day.”
(Wikiquote: Shakespeare King Henry, V)
I’m very happy to see so many of you like this particular piece of music.
Like I said yesterday, I couldn’t think of anything better then commemorate John with exactly this beautiful theme, written by the late Mr. Kammen. (Who is responsable for many beautiful movie-themes.)
The video-feature Drill chose so worthy to post along maybe only shows the “Band of Brothers” according to WWII. But to me it’s a constant reminder to every vet and current active soldier all over the world who is fighting the fight for our freedom.
A few of you know I spend every possible moment of my live defending them against the continuous lies and leftist “wind of destruction”. THEY DESERVE BETTER!!!!
May I make a suggestion?
With the passing of John Cunningham this site could create a “John Cunningham-corner” for an appropiate goal. Like; reminding and defending al those soldiers in the past, present and, undoubtful, future who are treated like dirt by al kinds of scumbags.
Just an idea.
Thanks Drill for posting this in the video-section. I was finally able to cry.
