Lordy, can’t wait for this screenplay business to be finished, went to bed at 6 AM, up at 8:30.
Reviewing YA artwork this afternoon.
I’m curious to know just how badly the far Left is shredding Hussein over FISA. And I don’t know if you saw it, but yesterday McCain predicted that our boy ( okay, girl ) would change his position on Iraq after his visit with Petraeus ( in Iraq ) next week. He won’t change it, but he’ll calibrate it to seem the same but different, so everyone can be pleased.
As for the bigger-picture on the election, I’m daily growing more and more concerned that McCain is just not going to hit this nuckfut hard enough. You can only take this guy down by shredding this guy on the issues with volume and spectacle of a WWF wrestling match.

I miss my midnight and wee hours “Deep Thoughts” posts, too. They’ll be back tonight or tomorrow as my work cycle shifts.

Pat, come on man whats the deal with YA? Got any new idea on a release date or what TV or movie channel will air it?
July 10th, 2008 at 10:43 amWhat are your sources telling you about “Generation Kill”?

July 10th, 2008 at 11:15 amThe title alone pisses me off but I keep hearing that the Marines portrayed in it think it’s pretty good. Since it’s showing up in your ad space, I think we need some perspective. Is it just a project rushed in to try and preempt YA?
One of my good buddies loved reading “Generation Kill,” and now he’s at MCRD San Diego.
Though I’m looking forward to “YA” far more, I’ll be Watching “GK” too.
Hey, it beats any reality tv show!

As I’ve said here and on the radio show, September. After wasting a year with my big time Hollywood producers who had one thing to say about creative control, and another in practice in the editing room, no one was more disappointed, or in reality, murderously pissed than me. But in the end, I went far more balls out on the politics and the perspective on how we’ve achieved victory, with a notable look at how so despite the treason of the MSM and the Dems. YA will be literally have the last word on Iraq vis a vis Hollywood, before the elections.
Everything happens for a reason.
“Gen Kill” and YA are at best, five times removed cousins. Not really about the same topic, as “Gen Kill” has nothing to do with the real Iraq war, the insurgency, Gen Kill covers the first two weeks, the rush to Baghdad, no more.

July 10th, 2008 at 8:19 pmThis is the most complete write up I’ve seen of “Generation Kill”….
Sounds like it will be one of those things where whatever your prejudice going in may be, it will be reinforced in the film but I expect it will mostly make anti’s day.

July 10th, 2008 at 9:23 pmRE: Gen Kill
Having met one of the Marines who was disparaged in this book, and having spoken to several others, some of whom where featured in a much better light, and after speaking to other embeds who were there at the same time, and several respected authors with books on those first weeks of the invasion, all I can say with complete certainty is that Evan Wright has taken alot of creative license with events and in his depiction of several Marines.
That some Marines chose to use the project to advance a career in Hollywood at the expense of truth is not in keeping with the ethos of the Marine Corps.
“The Marine Corps, like the Army, has an office in Hollywood that advises producers, directors and writers working on projects that involve military subjects. But it did not participate in making “Generation Kill” and does not endorse it.”
For a detailed analysis of SOME of the factual errors in the book ( which have been reproduced in the mini series) read this from Lt.Col.Michael Shoup
http://commentaryongenerationkill.blogspot.com/
While Sgt. Daniel “Casey Kasem” Griego also identified a LONG list of inaccuracies, and has spent the better part of four years trying to set the record straight, he did attend the premiere screening and stated aside from the fact there were plenty of inaccuracies, he mostly liked the film.
Sgt Griego’s detailed list of inaccuracies can be found here: http://coinside.blogspot.com/2006/05/generation-kill-full-rebuttal.html
