Yesterday and earlier’s “Deep Thoughts”

.

10:19 P.M.

Nice back to back weekends. Wake up to the Tony Snow news last Saturday, and this one to the news about reader/frequent commenter and man with whom I’d had frequent personal e-communication contact and considered a friend.

Here’s many cheers and beers to veteran warrior John. A Bronze Star warrior. That one pretty much means you just about didn’t make it home because you did something extraordinary to make sure others did.

John once sent a $50.00 money order to support the site. I never cashed it, and it sits right at the top of a drawer I open to grab my keys from every day, its tough old Vietnam vet’s scrawl, including a special and motivating notation, the one genuine, physical (not virtual e-comm) reminder of John that I have. There was no particular reason I didn’t cash it…things just happen, don’t they?

John was a force of life around here and in our communications, a man who hp me going, plain and simple. And he had been “there”, and faced the fire, while others who continue to waste oxygen, like Jane Fonda, had other things to do and say and think. A war that continues, a war we all here fight, in some way.

Damn, I hate this shit, but like we always used to say over there, when it’s your time it’s your time.

Not getting out of bed next Saturday.

Good morning, John…

1:17 P.M.

And what passes for a hero today?

3:48 P.M.

Anybody remember reading a searing indictment or even a softball but pointed and detailed review of how the Dems were dead wrong about the Surge in the mainstream media last week? Week before? At all?

Me either.

Has the point and any relative points stemming from it about the politics of this war been even been made in the MSM? Nope.

The media wanted America to lose. The Left always does.

4:04 P.M.

And it was awfully quiet when Hussein deleted all his opposition to the Surge from his website. You won’t hear much about it again, either.

It’s strange, fighting a war for a half a country. The rest are really another country’s young. A country part Soviet Union, part merely state of mind, but a foreign country with it’s own interests, growing amongst us like weeds and cancer.

6:01 P.M.

I’ve got to get the fuck out of Disneyland and into Afghanistan and Pakistan, to places where the lives and futures of us all hang in the balance, places where life’s deepest truths cannot be suppressed by the mere wordplay of journalists and politicians, where reality can not be redefined from anything more than what it obviously is, right in front of your face; several more months before I can have the final surgery and my vision is supposed to return. I don’t know, either this isn’t home anymore, or I’m just not home at the right time, but I’m not home here, and in fact, just simply have never really come back. Battles are being waged, real wars against armed human enemies are being fought - as opposed to say metaphorical wars against the sun or whatever other Lefty metaphorical war du jour - men are doing extraordinary things beyond most people’s imaginings, there are things to do….

8:12 P.M.

Damn internet broke, just got it back on. There is no life without the internet, and if you don’t exist on the internet, you don’t exist. Right?
