Official: NATO Air Strikes Kill 50-80 Militants In Afghanistan
KABUL, July 27 (Kyodo)—Between 50 and 80 Taliban militants were killed by NATO air strikes in eastern Afghanistan early Sunday, a provincial governor said.
The air strikes came after a large group of Taliban militants killed two police and wounded four others in an attack on a police post in Sparai village of Zadran district, which borders Pakistan in Khost province, Gov. Arsala Jamal said.
The police immediately called in NATO air support, he said, adding that between 50 and 80 militants were killed in the air strikes.
The NATO-led International Security Assistance Force confirmed there had been a fight in the area but did not provide details.
Taliban militants, whose government was toppled by the U.S.-led coalition’s invasion in 2001, have stepped up their attacks in Afghanistan.

July 28th, 2008 at 6:18 amYeppers… now thats what I call a outstanding kill ratio. I wonder what all those “foreign fighters” supposedly coming from Iraq are going to do when they realize aircraft rain on their parade with the frequency of spring showers.
