In 03, in the face of a strong economy, the army missed its recruiting goals for a few months. The MSM shit its pants in joy, “look, look, the Iraq war has destroyed the military, it Vietnam all over again, Americans are wimps and will not fight”. Now that all goals have been exceeded for years on end are we going to get a NYT essay on how well the military is doing and that it has probably never been less of a hollow force, that it has never had as many combat veterans and that it is at the strongest its ever been. Dont hold your breath.
August 11th, 2008 at 10:19 amThe MSM will simply say that the “tough economic times” have forced people with no other opportunities to join up. They never mention that the units with combat experience have the highest retention rates….funny how that works.
August 11th, 2008 at 11:48 amof course it’s because of the economy. And they’ll call for more taxes in order to fix this problem and keep people out of the US Army [which they view as a terrorist organization]
