Vietnam War - “The Impact of Media” explores in detail the ‘media distortions’ due to television’s misrepresentations during the Vietnam War. It rebuts the view promoted by PBS ’s 13-part documentary series, “Vietnam: A Television History”. The rebuttal also applies to “The Ten Thousand Day War” series.
“The Impact of Media” is a must-see for historians and politicians alike. The late president Ronald Reagan lauded this rebuttal video when he watched it and said that it’s “something all Americans should see”.
Made in 1984.

I was speaking to a young friend of mine about what distinguished this generation, what moniker would it bear? I thought a second, and then ventured, “Well, other than the way less than 1% of it serving in combat, the only thing that distinguishes this generation is internet porn. The rise, proliferation and complete integration into the core of their lives of internet porn. So, uh, yeah this is The Internet Porn Generation.”
She didn’t say anything for awhile. This was her generation we were speaking about. She didn’t challenge me, and I supposed she was trying to come up with a better answer. I was thinking she could have said “Violence” as in You Tube videos where her generation beats the shit out of each other, but I guess she didn’t cos what’s the difference?
We haven’t spoken about it again.

I had a couple of high school teachers back in the early ’80’s who had served in Vietnam. I am glad they went into teaching and were able to convey their feelings about the effect of media and the TET offensive back then. I doubt students today are as lucky as I was to gain their insight.
August 11th, 2008 at 6:20 amI know tons of people that were in Vietnam. a friend of mines dad was a chopper pilot and my neighbor was a marine. just to name a few.
but seriously, i have 2 words for the way the media reported the war and the way the civilians, including our congress back then treated our troops.
Never Again!
along with this site and many others these people will never go unchallenged again.
August 11th, 2008 at 7:57 amI just lost a first cousin a little over a year ago to agent orange disease. He served in the army and did 3 tours in Vietnam.
I had an (EX) brother in law that served 2 tours, Army.
A good friends father, dying of cancer now, served 3 tours USMC, Vietnam.
What do all 3 have in common?
They all hated and still hate the Media for what they did to them.
August 11th, 2008 at 8:36 amI was there, Tet, Hue, and little did I know the media was stabbing us in the back from the get go. “The Perfect Spy”, Pham Xuan An was the biggest set back, and of course he worked for Time. What is sad is that that genre still runs the media and academia. Hopefully for our kids sake, they will die out with the rest of us.
August 11th, 2008 at 9:03 amI can’t say for certain, I MAY have had an encounter with Michael Crooks.
It’s had me in “deep thought” since it happened.
I was at an outdoor range on Long Island last weekend.
A ceasefire was called.
3 young men approached me as I checked my targets
(pictures of che, soros, michael crooks, stalin, others).
The smallest one does all the talking.
Asks, “Who’s this?” pointing to the michael crooks picture.
I replied,
“Thats michael crooks.
He likes to defile soldier’s graves and post video of it on you tube”.
http://members.aol.com/viperspages/about/forsakethetroops.html
“Why are you shooting at che? He’s cool. Why would you do that?”
Feeling slightly threatened, out numbered, and now surrounded,
I’m thinking: Just ignorant or liberal douches?
I said directly to the largest member of the group,
“che wasn’t cool, he was a communist mass murderer.
All communists must be killed or otherwise dealt with.”
The trio immediately walked off the range and drove away.
As they walked away,
it dawned on me that the larger one I’d focused on looked a lot like michael crooks.
That inbred crooked face, the lifeless drooping black eyes.
Much longer hair and about 30 lbs. heavier than when he was on Hannity & combs.
Maybe it was him, maybe it wasn’t.
August 11th, 2008 at 9:33 amLike I said, can’t say for certain.
Either way, it has me bothered.
Two former Marines got jumped by up to 50 blacks in Coney Island.Note this is not being seen as a hate crime or will the media portray it as such. Disgusting

August 11th, 2008 at 10:24 am“I love the smell of Naval Jelly in the afternoon; smells like rust removal.” Doing odd jobs around the house, without the help of illegal aliens. Believe or not, it’s still possible to do such tasks without importing illegal labor.
I think what this invasion of Georgia shows, is that we need to grow our armed forces back to at least the levels they were under Reagan. The perception around the world is that we’re stretched too thin, otherwise Putin wouldn’t dare try to do this. That’s at least my dad’s analysis of the situation.
I would dispatch at least one CVBG into the Black Sea to “encourage” an immediate ceasefire. The PRC will be watching what our response is to this. If they see that Russia faces no consequences, they will be more encouraged about taking over Taiwan.

It’s been 39 years since I heard or read the phrase “Naval Jelly”.
When I was 12 my Dad picked up a used (POS) tool set for me.
He made it right with Naval Jelly.
Thank You for triggering that memory, it’s a good one!

August 11th, 2008 at 11:23 amIn my youth, I took an old rusty radio flyer sled, applied naval jelly on the skids, replaced some of the wood, added fresh paint and waited for the snow. Best ride ever, better than them new fangled plastic things.

August 11th, 2008 at 12:26 pmWow…just wow.
Youmight like this article. I too believe as I am sure most everyone else does that this was staged well in advance. Here is a good author.
“…Anyone seeking proof of who orchestrated this war has only to consider how swiftly Russian ground, air and naval forces “responded” to Georgia’s attempt to protect its citizens. Even the U.S. military—which is vastly better prepared, better trained and better organized than Russia’s—could not have launched so broad a coordinated assault from a standing start. Not only was this invasion planned in detail, but elements of Russia’s 58th Army, headquartered in Vladikavkaz, just across the Caucasus Mountains from Georgia, had task-organized an initial armored brigade for the invasion’s spearhead—soon followed by the equivalent of a full division, augmented by paratroopers from Russia’s strategic reserve. The 58th Army had adequate warning time to replace deadlined vehicles, perform pre-combat maintenance of the rest, distribute full combat loads of ammunition (beyond what was already on the tanks and other armored vehicles), shift troops between garrisons, deploy forward logistics elements, and disseminate tactical plans.
You don’t do that in a couple of hours. That takes several days for the very finest military unit—and weeks for most others…”

Hussein’s Stance On Al Gebra
A public school teacher was arrested today at John F. Kennedy International Airport as he attempted to board a flight while in possession of a ruler, a protractor, a set square, a slide rule, and a calculator.
At a morning press conference, the Attorney General said he believes the man is a member of the notorious Al-gebra movement. He did not identify the man, who has been charged by the FBI with carrying weapons of math instruction.
“Al-gebra is a problem for us,” the Attorney General said. “They desire solutions by means and extremes, and sometimes go off on tangents in a search of absolute value. They use secret code names like ‘x’ and ‘y’ and refer to themselves as ‘unknowns,’ but we have determined they belong to a common denominator of the axis of medieval with coordinates in every country
As the Greek philanderer Isosceles used to say, ‘There are 3 sides to every triangle.’” When asked to comment on the arrest, Senator Obama said, “If God had wanted us to have better Weapons of Math Instruction, he would have given us more fingers and toes.” Democratic leaders told reporters they could not recall a more intelligent or profound statement by the Senator.

F’n Ruskies!
August 11th, 2008 at 6:47 pmAbout the Russians in Georgia…
…………………………….
Our Geeks (not a derogatory term) have got to be better than the Russian’s Geeks.
I have to believe that…
………………………….
So, here’s my prediction;
When everything is in place it will include;
1. An overwhelming Cyber warfare attack (that doesn’t target Russia’s economy).
2. Air superiority over Georgia. (F-22’s?)
3. Close Air Support for Georgian forces in Georgia. (A-10’s?)
4. Then the “Fat Boys” take the stage, ie - B-52’s, B1B’s, B-2’s with full racks of the new 250lb SDB.
5. Once #2 is achieved, tell that Mass-Murdering KGB ass-wipe Vladimir Putin what is about to happen to his Military and there’s nothing he can do to stop it.

Self absorbed and unenlightened a generation turns to internet porn for evidence of themselves. Not what they can do for others but what they can do to themselves.

August 12th, 2008 at 4:04 amMy name is Mario Abalos, in January 1968 I was at LZ Sherry in Phan thiet S. Vietnam, I was serving with the 5Th/27Th artillery. At about 9 :45 pm a mortar round hit right outside of our perimeter, this was the first time we had any type of contact since I came in country, but it was not the last. After that night we were hit several times a night, I can not remember how many men we lost, but one thing I do remember is that out of the brave men of B Battery 5Th/27Th artillery that were there when I joined the group, maybe just a hand full were left to come home alive. To all my brothers that served with me, may god always be by your side. Welcome Home !
