Stroke Of Midnight:
3:30 A.M.
Modified re-post from weekend. Lotta office readers don’t or aren’t able to access with hi-speed on weekends:
“…The effects of the violent disaster at Altamont was that it exposed the dark underbelly of the counter-culture, the dark forces that had always provided at least half of its propulsion, and to burst the bubble of the youth culture’s illusions about itself…we had witnessed the famous collectivity of a generation cracking into thousands of shards. it represented the end of The Age of Aquarius”, Todd Gitlin recalls. “And no one knew what new age would replace it,”
One more time:
“…The effects of the violent disaster at Altamont was that it exposed the dark underbelly of the counter-culture, the dark forces that had always provided at least half of it’s propulsion, and to burst the bubble of the youth culture’s illusions about itself…we had witnessed the famous collectivity of a generation cracking into thousands of shards. it represented the end of The Age of Aquarius”, Todd Gitlin recalls. “And no one knew what new age would replace it.
And what did the world learn to expect from this Aquarian, Make Love Not War generation? What did they see when they imagined the future of the formidable nuclear power, America, as foreshadowed by the American socio-political events of the late 60’s and 70’s? What conclusions did they come to about how to here on in treat this wealthiest, most comfortable, and safest of lands, based on the people who now populated it?
3:38 A.M.
Marine friend of mine who just got back from the usual 7 month stretch in Al Anbar, this time right near the Syrian border, told me that they did not see 1 frickin’ IED the whole time. Gone, poof, disappeared, just like all but tiny remaining specks of Al Qaeda. However, they did manage to get into two whole firefights in those 7 months - with Albanians. Yup, foreign Jihadis, and yup, they are obviously still making their way into the country through the systems in place in Syria.
And my Green Zone military and Blackwater contacts asssure me that were on the receiving end of some very nasty Iranian rockets on a regular basis. As in close to ten times a day, every day for 2 months. And then, lo and behold, after a concentrated multi-tiered pushback and HVT roundup, Maliki’s determination and the IA going i and taking control of Sadr City, the indirect fire stopped. No more rockets big or small, no more mortars. The only thing being shot at us anymore, was from there, and much of it Iranian.
Nothing has fallen in over a month.
5:40 P.M.
Is it okay to say that Hussein was originally a dark horse candidate, or is that racist? Ol’ Bill is now having to explain he’s not racist, just as anyone who opposes Hussein will. They tried that shit on Johnny Mac this week, and he steamrolled right over them. When is Hussein going to apologize for flatly stating that Republicans are going to tell people not to vote for him because he’s black? Oh, right, he can’t because he’s already tried to say he didn’t say that, the entire rational world just misunderstand him. This guy has less value and use than a shit-covered swath of toilet paper.

Clicking here will cause carbon to be released into the atmosphere, increasing our carbon footprint and theoretically helping Global Warming to increase. No kidding.

So Dollard Nation… I’ve had this idea brewing in my head for a bit. What I’m thinking of doing is getting a video camera and documenting or Video Blogging my next deployment with the 13th MEU.
August 4th, 2008 at 5:24 amWhat I’m asking you guys is this. Any body have an idea what kind of camera I should use? I’d need something compacted. Durable, long battery life, resistant to moisture and humidity. Resistant to dust. Be able to stand up to the sometimes stupid/clumsy things Marines do.
What about editing software?
You know, I’d be pretty pissed too if he showed up with some Natty Light. Blech.

For anyone who missed it over the weekend, there was a protest against the POSSIBILITY of war with Iran in NYC. I was with the counter-demonstrators.
It got ugly. Some muslim cocksucker took a swing at a woman who has a son in Iraq. I have a post, with pictures, at my site, along with a roundup.

I also was interviewed by CBS. I think I did pretty good, managing not to sound like a raving lunatic, which is more than can be said for how the other side looked.

August 4th, 2008 at 9:36 amHussien has effectively built a pit of quick sand and is standing in it.During the primary he dug the pit.Alienated many dems with his socialist stance. He added the sand. The immediate shift after the campaign to the right of far left.Alienated more dems. Added the water. Went to Europe acting like a King.Alienated more dems.Evert day he sinks a little farther.Come the Dems convention the coronation Obama expects may be his burial. And who is patiently waiting in the Shadows. Hildebeast.Hillary still has her delegates and the popular vote.
August 4th, 2008 at 9:39 amThanks, I’ll check him out.
Or uhhh… I’ll wait a few years for that one.
August 4th, 2008 at 10:16 am1. First of all, Yon called me to ask what camera and mic equipment to take to Iraq, so you might as well just go to the source. Exactly what you’re looking for you’re not gonna find in terms of the durability issue, so plan on taking more than one camera. You know what, I’ll hit you up via email for a more thorough conversation
2. Tic-Tic Bickle: Excellent report from the burnouts’ boondoggle in Times Square. I hadn’t read your shit yesterday, or I would’ve had a much better intro for you when you called the show last night. Really good writing, pictures, a thorough, bad-ass report. I recommend it to one and all.

If you’ve got anything else you might want to write or post for the site, let me know.
I jammed quickly through the CBS tape ‘cos I’m not really in a place to listen. Are you the first guy up after the skinny black chick? People will want to know.

August 4th, 2008 at 10:18 amThanks. Now that I think about it, Yon is more of a still photo than video guy.
In the video, I’m the guy in the boonie hat and yellow raincoat. I’m wearing a Jihadi Killer Crusader shirt under it, but sadly the weather kept most people from seeing it.
Those who did on our side loved it, though.

August 4th, 2008 at 10:31 amThat would be fucking awesome! If I go through with it, it probably won’t be as action packed as your stuff. As I’m an air winger and not “in the shit” as much.
August 4th, 2008 at 10:36 amLike the t-shirt says: “What’s the difference between girls from New Jersey and trash? Trash gets picked up!”
August 4th, 2008 at 10:52 amIf you look at McCain’s strategy for the election, you can see a great deal of his military insticts involved:
We gave him crap for the past few months for not going on the offensive against Hussein. Yet he’s proven to be as is known the Navy, a “cool customer;” now he is striking after Hussein overextended himself.
This election is far from wrapped-up. We could very well give them a rude surprise in November. I wonder if the Obama cult will have a mass-suicide?
August 4th, 2008 at 2:07 pmUnbreakable:
Some American hospitals are supplying prayer rugs for Muslims. Don’t know if they’re supplying Bibles or other religious literature for other religions, though….Some American public pools are providing Muslim women with private swim times. I’ve heard that even male life guards aren’t allowed on the premises.

2. S.H.I.T.–Stop Hate, Imperialism and Tyranny! (now!)
3. F.A.R.T.–Free Anarchist Radical Teams (they are all bandannaed, “autonomous” teams of one, of course)
4. D.U.M.B.–Denver Unconventional Moonbat Brigade (they want to reclaim “moonbat” from the evil, right-wing, Christo-fascist, imperialist capitalists!)
5. P.R.I.C.–People’s Revolutionary anti-Imperialist Collective (or, Revolutionary Anti-Imperialist Movement-Denver)
6. U.R.I.N.E.–Unconventional Revolutionaries Incorporating Nude Egalitarianism (see explanation above)

August 4th, 2008 at 3:03 pmFeel free to use anything on my site. I’m surprised no one put up the CBS report. There’s also vids of the end of the dust-up with haji, and him talking with someone I think is one of the moonbat organizers here, along with the woman he swung at in the beginning taking a bundle of desecrated flags a real scumbag piece of shit had thrown in the street:

BTW, I just found a good vid on Pedestrian Infidel:

Sums up my feelings on the jihadis and dhimmis pretty well, although if I made it it’d be much more profane.
August 4th, 2008 at 4:29 pmI just watched a youtube video by DoD. It’s about homeless veterans. This video says there are over 100,000 homeless veterans - Mostly from our previous wars but some from the war now. Does anyone know any info about this?

August 4th, 2008 at 4:45 pmYour first sentence, that’s why he called me. He’s a good guy, very solid. Danger Girl, who I met a little later, is particularly tight with him. A good journalist, which is to say one who writes with honesty, is harder to find than a good woman. They think truth is a toy they got for Christmas - they own it, they can do what they want with it, and most of all, it exists for their pleasure.
