The mother in the high-profile case of a missing Florida toddler is heading back to jail Friday night after police arrested her at her home.
Orange County Sheriff’s Office said Friday evening that they had responded to the home of Casey Anthony and took her into custody, barely a week after California bondsmen paid her $500,000 bond and sprung her from jail in the hopes that she would assist in finding her daughter, Caylee.
The bondsmen said in recent days that they were considering whether to revoke the bond and return their money, though it wasn’t immediately clear if this was the reason police took Anthony back into custody. She had been confined to her Orlando home and wearing an electronic monitor.
Caylee was 2 years old when she disappeared on or about June 16, though police did not learn that the girl was missing until about a month later. Police then arrested Casey Anthony, 22, on charges of child neglect and lying to authorities. She has not be charged in her daughter’s disappearance, and no suspects have been identified.
Anthony, who was released Aug. 21 after a month in jail, has maintained that a baby sitter kidnapped her daughter. Police say they don’t believe her and haven’t been able to locate the sitter.
