Parents must be their children's PARENTS above all else and not their friends. Too often, I meet coeds and their mothers, and sometimes wonder which is the mom! Yes there were times when I was pissed off at both of my parents for taking a hardline against me, but in hindsight, I now know it was all for the best. But there is such a thing as being overbearing, too; "helicopter parents" aren't doing their children any favors. The sooner a young adult learns to take care of themselves and make the right decisions, the better. Not once have I done any narcotics whatsoever. Not once have I gotten in trouble with the law--save for the three traffic points I got in 2003 for a car wreck. In college, you're exposed to many new and unfamiliar experiences and shady people. Being taught what is right and what is wrong by your family goes a very long way. Parents must teach their daughters to respect themselves, and not be so degraded as to show up on GGW videos. Have I sometimes wondered if I missed out on some good times? Yes, but in the long run, my life is less complex and more fulfilling. In the future, my supervisor won't see pictures of me doing anything too controversial on facebook, etc., thus wondering how responsible I am as a man. Besides, all you really need to have a good time here at Tech is a few kegs, a football game, and some good friends and coeds! :beer: That or a trip to the range with some high-powered rifles, handguns, and shotguns!
