Unless a piece of music is “public domain”, it cannot be reproduced in any way UNLESS the copyright owner gives his/her express, written permission to use it.

Personally, I think McCain made a bad decision even considering that punk-ass-bitch’s music anyway.

Hey, here’s an idea. Go ask a patriot if you can use his/her music in your next commercial. Chances are real good that they’ll let you use it pro-bono. And a byproduct of someone like Lee Greenwood’s music would have a more positive effect on the people you really need to reach.

I saw Jackson Browne several times in the 70s/80s when I leaned left in my ignorant youth. He was a huge heroin addict back then. He was freakish anti-nuke, anti-war protester. Now he is a green Hollywood freak. I am not surprised by this at all.

Who is picking out McCain’s music? There are tons of musicians with a positive message on the country side who would be glad to lend their support to the right. Seems to me they could do much better than Jackson Browne. “Running on Empty” is not exactly a positive song - It is about a burned out musician with no future and no hope. Jackson always wrote about himself.
